It sits inside the standard airbox where Ducati put a filter, and nothing about the bike looks different afterwards.

Correct in twenty years, not just today

Numbered editions get inspected. Someone examining this bike a long time from now finds a correctly filtered engine, a sealed airbox and no evidence that anyone got clever with the intake — and, because the element is cleaned rather than replaced, no gap in the service history where a discontinued part number could not be found. That second point matters more than it sounds: a five-hundred-unit model has a short parts tail, and a filter you never have to reorder steps outside the problem entirely.

Low mileage is its own hazard

Bikes like this cover few kilometres and spend long periods standing. That is a duty cycle in which a paper element ages without being used, and in which a service interval measured in kilometres arrives years after it should have. A washable element can simply be cleaned and refitted whenever the bike comes out, without the question of whether it is worth buying a part.

Care and cleaning
