Drei Millimeter Wand
Fünfundvierzig in einem 51,5er Körper lässt rundum etwa drei Millimeter. Das ist so wenig Verengung, wie ein Einsatz bieten kann, ohne aufzuhören, einer zu sein — und deshalb kostet er etwas mehr: Ein dünner Querschnitt in Edelstahl verlangt mehr Sorgfalt in der Fertigung als ein dicker.
Wer den weitesten braucht
Großvolumige Maschinen und Strecken mit großzügigen Grenzen. An einem großen Vierzylinder oder einem großen V-Twin kosten die engeren Grid-O-Einsätze echte Mitte, und wenn die Maschine nur zwei oder drei Dezibel abgeben muss, schafft der 45er das ohne diesen Preis.
Er ist außerdem der sinnvolle erste Kauf, wenn Sie noch nicht wissen, wie weit über der Grenze Sie liegen. Weit anfangen, messen, notfalls enger gehen.
Die Leiter der Familie
32, 38, 40, 45. Vier Durchlässe, ein Körper, eine Dämpferfamilie. Wer dieselbe Maschine auf verschiedenen Strecken bewegt, hat manchmal zwei der vier dabei; der Tausch dauert Minuten und braucht einen Schraubendreher.
Warum alle vier offen sind
Weil der Grid-O in einem gewebten Titangitter über dem ganzen Austritt endet und dieses Gitter bereits akustisch arbeitet. Ein gelochter Einsatz dahinter würde verengen, ohne viel Dämpfung hinzuzufügen, deshalb baut Spark alle vier als glatte Durchlässe.
Der Preis, und warum
Der teuerste der vier Grid-O-Einsätze, weil er am schwierigsten zu fertigen ist. Eine Drei-Millimeter-Wand in Edelstahl muss bearbeitet und veredelt werden, ohne sich zu verziehen — und es ist weniger Material da, an dem man sie dabei halten kann.

Zulassung
Unberührt. Ein Racing-Grid-O bleibt mit jedem Einsatz ein Racing-Artikel, und ein homologierter Auspuff gehört in die Konfiguration, in der Spark ihn geprüft hat.
