Zwei feste Punkte und ein Bogen dazwischen
An einem Vierzylinder-Aufbau ist am Auspuff fast nichts frei. Der Sammler verlässt den Motor dort, wo die Krümmergeometrie ihn hinlegt; der Schalldämpfer muss an einer Aufnahme ankommen, die der Rahmen vorgibt. Alles dazwischen ist das Problem des Aufbauers, und ein flacher Bogen ist das Werkzeug dafür.
Dreißig Grad ändert die Richtung so wenig, dass die Strecke noch als Gerade gelesen wird — und so viel, dass das ferne Ende über einen halben Meter spürbar wandert.
Winkel gegen Länge
Je weiter der Schalldämpfer vom Bogen entfernt ist, desto mehr bewegt ihn ein kleiner Winkel. Eine Abweichung von dreißig Grad verschiebt das Ende einer 400-mm-Strecke um rund zweihundert Millimeter — deshalb wirkt ein flacher Bogen früh in der Anlage stärker als ein scharfer spät.
Setzen Sie die Korrektur dorthin, wo sie am meisten leistet, und die Anlage braucht weniger Teile.
Wachstum auf langer Strecke
Edelstahl dehnt sich um etwa siebzehn Mikrometer je Meter und Grad. Ein Meter Rohr von kalt auf fünfhundert Grad wächst über acht Millimeter, und ein Bogen ist die Stelle, an der dieses Wachstum zur Biegebelastung wird statt zu einer Gleitbewegung.
Eine gleitende Verbindung je Strecke nimmt es auf. Eine starr verschweißte Anlage reißt an einer Naht am Bogenende, meist innerhalb einer Saison.
Wohin die Aufnahme kommt
Nicht auf die Krümmung. Eine an die Außenseite eines Bogens geschweißte Lasche setzt einen harten Punkt auf den dünnsten und am stärksten belasteten Teil des Rohrs. Schweißen Sie die Lasche an einen geraden Abschnitt und lassen Sie den Bogen frei.
Spannen
Nur an den geraden Enden und nur mit weichen Backen. Vierundfünfzig Millimeter bei einem Millimeter Wand nehmen in blanken Schraubstockbacken binnen Sekunden eine bleibende Verformung an, und ein ovales Ende verhindert die nächste Verbindung.
