Was es ist
Als Maß nennt Öhlins Innendurchmesser 56.82 mm, Schnurstärke 2.62 mm, Werkstoff NBR 70. Eine Dichtung, die einmal trocken gelaufen ist, bleibt beschädigt, auch wenn wieder Öl anliegt. Die Dichtung hält das Öl im System und den Schmutz draußen. Werkstoffe wie NBR und FKM unterscheiden sich in der Temperaturbeständigkeit deutlich.

Wer sein Fahrwerk regelmäßig warten lässt, kommt mit wenigen Positionen aus; wer wartet, tauscht ganze Baugruppen. Wer beim Zerlegen ohnehin offen ist, tauscht die Verschleißpositionen gleich mit — ein zweites Öffnen kostet mehr als das Teil. Zwischen Dichtung und Führung sitzt oft ein Stützring gegen Spaltextrusion. Eine gealterte Dichtung wird hart und verliert die Vorspannung an der Lippe. Serienmäßige Positionen halten wir vorrätig; Sonderteile bestellen wir gezielt. Der Werkstoff muss zur Öltemperatur passen, sonst härtet der Ring aus.
Zuordnung über die Nummer
Die Nummer 00338-73 ist eindeutig; die Bezeichnung allein ist es nicht, weil Öhlins ähnliche Wortlaute über mehrere Größen verwendet. Ihre Lippe läuft auf der Welle und verschleißt mit jedem Zentimeter Hub. Die Vorspannung der Lippe kommt von einer eingelegten Ringfeder.
