Ein Lenker, keine Stummellenker
Der Winkel, in dem die Seilzüge eine Gasgriffeinheit verlassen, ist an einem einteiligen Lenker völlig anders. Das M-Profil ist dafür geschnitten, weshalb es neben der universellen Version überhaupt existiert.
Hundertsiebenundvierzig PS
Die Überarbeitung von 2017 brachte den 1.198-cm³-Testastretta-Motor auf die höchste Leistung, die eine Serien-Monster je hatte. Sie brachte auch einen überarbeiteten Gitterrohrrahmen und eine niedrigere Sitzbank mit sich.
Kurven-ABS
Ducati stattete die Monster mit einer Bosch-Trägheitsplattform aus, was bei einem Naked Bike mit so viel Drehmoment nützlicher ist als bei einem Superbike. Auf unbekannten Straßen verdient es sich seinen Platz.
Gehäuse ohne Schalter
Der Schalterblock bleibt, wo er ist. Dieses Teil ersetzt allein die Gasgriffeinheit, was die meisten Besitzer tatsächlich benötigen.
Die Bohrung
Gefräst statt gespritzt, was das Rohr über Jahre hinweg sauber drehen lässt. Bei einem Motorrad, das täglich statt nur gelegentlich genutzt wird, fällt das lange vor allem anderen auf.
Schwarz eloxiert
In das Aluminium eingebracht. Der Lenker einer Monster ist eines der sichtbarsten Teile des gesamten Motorrads und liegt komplett dem Wetter ausgesetzt.
Ergal 7075
Eine Luftfahrtlegierung mit etwa der doppelten Streckgrenze gewöhnlicher gefräster Legierungen. Bei einem Naked Bike, das irgendwann auf einem Parkplatz umfällt, ist das ein praktischer Vorteil.
Galluzzis Idee
Die ursprüngliche Monster wurde aus einem 900SS-Motor, einem Superlight-Rahmen und Teilen zusammengesetzt, die ohnehin im Lager lagen. Das rettete Ducatis Finanzen und erfand dabei eine ganze Kategorie.
Verstellbare Ergonomie
Ducati bot für die 1200 mehrere Sitzhöhen und Lenkerpositionen an. Das ist einer der Gründe, warum das Modell über drei Jahrzehnte einen so breiten Besitzerkreis gehalten hat.
