Das Lenkschloss entfällt
Mit dem Schließzylinder verschwindet auch das Lenkschloss. An einem Straßenmotorrad spielt das eine Rolle, an einer Maschine, die zwischen den Rennstrecken im Transporter steht, nicht.
Zwanzig Minuten
Die Arbeit ist schnell erledigt, sobald der Tank oder die Abdeckung über dem Kabelbaum aus dem Weg ist. Von Modell zu Modell unterscheidet sich der Zugang, nicht die Arbeit.
Kit-Kabelbäume für den Rennbetrieb
Maschinen mit Rennkabelbaum erwarten eine andere Anordnung, deshalb tauchen manche Modelle im Katalog zweimal unter getrennten Nummern auf.
Anzugsmomente
Die Schrauben greifen direkt in die Gabelbrücke, und die Werte sind niedrig. Sie nachzuschlagen geht schneller, als ein Gewinde in einem Aluminiumgussteil zu reparieren.
Woher die Gramm kommen
Ein Schließzylinder aus Stahl, ein Schlossmechanismus, ein Halter und ein Kabelpaket. Nichts davon ist leicht, und alles sitzt über dem Lenkkopf.
Warum Ergal
Es lässt sich sauber zerspanen, gut eloxieren und steckt einen Schlag weg, ohne sich zu verformen. An einem Teil, das an eine Gabelbrücke geschraubt ist, an der man sich abstützt, zählt das.
Nichts an der Leistung
Keine Änderung an Leistung, Einspritzung oder Ansprechverhalten. Die einzige messbare Veränderung ist die Masse auf der Waage, und die einzige spürbare ist die an der Fingerspitze.
In die Oberfläche eloxiert
Die Farbe wächst in die Oberfläche hinein, statt aufgesprüht zu werden, deshalb zeigt eine Kante, die einen Schlag abbekommt, keine helle Linie.
Vor allem anderen: die Wegfahrsperre
Hat der Schlüssel einen Chip, gehört die Antenne um den Schließzylinder zum Startstromkreis, und ohne sie läuft der Motor nicht. Rennkabelbäume und eigenständige Steuergeräte regeln das meist schon. An einem serienmäßigen Motorrad ist es das Einzige, woran diese Arbeit scheitern kann.
