Moderne Elektrik, altmodische Optik
Das Cockpit der R nineT ist bewusst schlicht gehalten: runde Rundinstrumente, möglichst wenig Kunststoff, nichts, was das Baujahr verrät. Das eine Bauteil, das die Tarnung auffliegen lässt, ist der Schalter, der mit der Sportbaureihe geteilt wird und auch genauso aussieht. Ihn durch gefrästes Aluminium zu ersetzen, ist eine der wenigen Änderungen, die das Motorrad eher stilechter als weniger stilecht wirken lassen.
Ein einfacheres Bedienset als bei den Geschwistermodellen
Weil die R nineT weder ein TFT-Display noch Fahrmodi zum Navigieren besitzt, trägt der linke Schalter weniger Funktionen als dieselbe Architektur an einer S1000RR. Blinker, Hupe und Lichthupe, und das ist im Wesentlichen alles. Weniger Tasten bedeuten, dass jede größer und besser getrennt sein kann, was zu einem Motorrad passt, das oft in ungefütterten Lederhandschuhen gefahren wird.
Gebaut, um einen Boxer zu überstehen
Ein luftgekühlter Zweizylinder dieser Größe vibriert auf eine Art, die Dinge löst. Das gefräste Gehäuse wird mit einer Schraubverbindung geklemmt statt zusammengeclipst, und die Schaltelemente sind abgedichtete Einheiten statt offener Kontakte. Bei einem Motorrad, dessen gesamter Reiz darin liegt, vom Besitzer selbst gewartet werden zu können, sind Teile, die fest bleiben, keine Kleinigkeit.
Welche Ausführung zu einem Retro-Motorrad passt
Schwarz und Titan fügen sich ruhig neben gebürstetes Aluminium und lackierten Stahl. Rot und Blau sind ebenfalls erhältlich und passen zum Racer und den sportlicheren Urban-Varianten, wirken aber an einer Pure oder einer Scrambler meist am auffälligsten im Cockpit. Die Eloxierung reicht durch die Oberfläche, sodass ein Stoß keine helle Narbe hinterlässt.
