Wired to the Display
Function assignment lives in the I2M configuration rather than in the motorcycle. Two bikes with identical hardware can behave completely differently, which is the point.
Scrutineering and Wiring
Race regulations have opinions about looms, kill switches and how things are secured. A dedicated block with a proper connector makes that inspection considerably shorter.
What the Road System Cannot Do
Ducati's dashboard is excellent and it is fixed. A team that wants a channel the factory did not think to record has no route to it at all.
A Button Used Mid-Corner
Segment markers get pressed while the bike is leaned over. Machined edges and a firm detent are what make that reliable when the hand is doing three things at once.
Sealed Inside
Contacts enclosed in the body rather than behind a lid. Damp air in a van between rounds reaches a clipped joint just as reliably as a pressure washer does.
Black Anodised
Converted into the aluminium. On a race motorcycle the criterion is survival under cleaning and handling rather than appearance under lights.
Semi-Active Suspension, Usually Gone
Race builds replace the S's electronically managed Öhlins with conventional cartridges, because a team would rather control damping itself than negotiate with an algorithm.
The Last Twin Flagship
After the 1299 came the V4. Plenty of 1299s went straight from road use into national paddocks and a good many are still competing there.
Taken Apart Repeatedly
Cut from solid, so the block sits as tightly at the end of a season as at the start. Moulded assemblies with snap fittings do not manage that.
