DescriptionThe whole story▼
The race left cluster for the Rivale 800, with the road controls removed and the housing milled from Ergal 7075.
Key Features
- MV Agusta Rivale 800 (2014–2016)
- Reduced race control set
- Black anodised
- CNC-milled Ergal 7075
- Sealed switch elements
- Plug-and-play on the original connector
Designed to Be Ridden Hard
Folding footrest tips, long-travel suspension and a high seat. MV expected the Rivale to be used somewhere its pegs would touch down, and a proportion of owners have taken that invitation seriously enough to strip the road equipment.
Wide Bars on a Circuit
The upright riding position and the broad handlebar give a great deal of leverage, which suits tight circuits and short kart tracks better than a long straight. It is a supermoto argument applied to a road-legal motorcycle.
Removing the Road Controls
Indicators and horn come off with the lights, and the positions they occupied go with them. What remains sits further apart, and a thumb approaching from above on a wide bar benefits from that spacing more than a clip-on rider would.
Standard Loom
MV's own connector and the factory ECU. No racing harness is needed, so the conversion is reversible and the motorcycle stays diagnosable, which on a model with this narrow a parts supply is worth having.
It Will Go Down
A bike ridden this way falls over, and the end of a wide handlebar reaches the ground first. A body cut from Ergal 7075 scuffs where a two-piece moulded housing splits at the clamp and has to be replaced.
Sealed Elements
Contacts sealed inside a one-piece body. The Rivale has no bodywork at all, so the housing does all the work of keeping weather and washing away from the electrics.
Black Anodised
A single finish, through the surface. On a motorcycle with as much visual incident as the Rivale, a cockpit component that stays quiet is generally the better decision.
