Bei starkem Bremsen aus hohem Tempo hat die linke Hand genau eine Aufgabe. Jede Taste, die man erst suchen muss, wird erst wieder benutzt, wenn das Motorrad aufrecht steht.
Einstellungen, die sich verändern
Lässt der Reifen nach, steigt die Traktionsstufe; kühlt die Strecke ab, sinkt oft das Kennfeld. Beides wird von hier aus erledigt, ohne das Gas zu schließen.
Zwanzig Minuten nach der Zielflagge
Dann trifft ein Bahnmotorrad auf den heißen Hochdruckreiniger. Das ist die zuverlässigste Methode, um Schalter zu zerstören, und sie passiert nach jeder Session, nicht nur gelegentlich.
Das Original kommt zurück
Nichts wird in den Kabelbaum geschnitten, sodass ein für die Rennstrecke vorbereitetes Motorrad in zwanzig Minuten ohne jede Spur in den Straßenzustand zurückversetzt werden kann.
Fahrwerk über das Display
Die S ließ sich das Öhlins-Fahrwerk über das Display statt mit einem Schraubendreher einstellen. Ducati war früh dabei, und es funktionierte besser, als es eigentlich durfte.
Datenaufzeichnung serienmäßig
Kanäle, aufgezeichnet auf einen Speicherstick, ohne montiertes Zubehör. Bei einem 2012 straßenzugelassenen Motorrad war das ungewöhnlich und sagt viel darüber aus, wen Ducati als Käufer erwartete.
Geschmiedete Marchesini-Räder
Rotierende Masse entfernt von einem bereits 164 Kilogramm leichten Motorrad (trocken). Die Lenkung wurde dadurch noch leichter – bei einem derart fokussierten Motorrad womöglich unnötig.
Drei eloxierte Varianten
Schwarz, Rot und Titanfarben. Bei einem Bahnmotorrad wird eine Oberfläche danach bewertet, wie sie Reinigung und Handling überlebt, nicht danach, wie sie auf dem Ständer fotografiert aussieht.
