Die spätere 1050
Triumph überarbeitete Motor und Elektronik mitten im Modellzyklus, weshalb zwei Steuergeräte ein Motorrad mit nur einem Namen abdecken.
Oder jemanden bezahlen
Ein Tuner mit Prüfstand entwickelt in wenigen Stunden eine Karte für dieses Steuergerät. Das kostet Geld, liefert aber ein besseres Ergebnis, als die meisten Besitzer allein erreichen.
Was es nicht kann
Den Drehzahlbegrenzer anheben, den Zündzeitpunkt ändern, einen Fahrmodus wechseln oder einen mechanischen Defekt beheben. Alles außerhalb der Kraftstoffmenge bleibt beim serienmäßigen Steuergerät.
Breitband oder gar nicht
Mapping ohne Messung des Gemischs ist Raten mit dem Motor als Versuchsobjekt. Eine Breitbandsonde samt Anzeige kostet weniger als die meisten Auspuffanlagen.
Der serienmäßige Sensor reicht nicht
Eine Lambdasonde ohne Breitbandtechnik meldet nur die Nähe zum stöchiometrischen Verhältnis. Sie kann nicht sagen, was das Gemisch bei Volllast tatsächlich tut – genau dort, wo man es wissen muss.
Außerhalb seiner Reichweite
Zündzeitpunkt, Drehzahlbegrenzer, Traktionskontrolle und Fahrmodi. All das bleibt beim serienmäßigen Steuergerät, und nichts davon lässt sich von hier aus anfassen.
Dokumentation
Es gibt eine Anleitung, und sie ist kurz. Der größte Teil des Lernens geschieht in der Software mit dem Motorrad vor sich und nicht in einem Dokument.
Drei Zylinder
Dreizylinder liegen zwischen den beiden Extremen und zeigen Gemischprobleme eher als Charakterveränderung denn als Stottern. Sie honorieren sorgfältige Arbeit im niedrigen Lastbereich.
Wie eine Sitzung tatsächlich aussieht
Eine ruhige Straße oder ein Prüfstand, ein angeschlossener Laptop, ein aufgezeichneter Breitbandwert, eine Zelle der Karte angepasst, dann derselbe Durchgang wiederholt, um zu sehen, ob sich der Wert bewegt hat. Drei oder vier solche Runden füllen einen Abend.
