Die Rennstrecken-Version
Höhere Fußrasten, bessere Bremsen und ein strafferes Fahrwerk. Die R ist die 890 für alle, die ein Naked Bike dorthin bringen, wo die Zeit gestoppt wird.
Interpolation zwischen den Zellen
Das Steuergerät springt nicht von einem Wert zum nächsten. Es überblendet zwischen benachbarten Zellen, weshalb ein glattes Kennfeld einen runden Motor ergibt und ein sprunghaftes nicht.
Diagnose bleibt ehrlich
Das serienmäßige Steuergerät führt seinen eigenen Fehlerspeicher und seine eigenen Anpassungen weiter. Eine Werkstatt liest das Motorrad, nicht die Abstimmsitzung von jemand anderem.
Zwei Kennfelder vergleichen
Die Software zeigt sie nebeneinander an. So erfährt ein Besitzer, welche Änderungen tatsächlich etwas bewirkt haben und welche nur Einbildung waren, und das ist mit einer festen Kurve unmöglich.
Was es nie berührt
Zündzeitpunkt, Drehzahlbegrenzung, Traktionskontrolle, Wheelie-Kontrolle und sämtliche Fahrmodi. Die Kraftstoffmenge ist sein gesamter Wirkungsbereich.
Nicht für ein serienmäßiges Motorrad
Der Hersteller nennt Rennsport-Umbauten als Grund für die Existenz dieses Geräts. An einem unveränderten Motorrad mit Original-Auspuffanlage gibt es kaum etwas, das ein Kennfeld korrigieren müsste.

Beim Zweizylinder
Weit auseinanderliegende Zündereignisse machen Gemischfehler leicht spürbar. Besitzer großvolumiger Zweizylinder bemerken die Verbesserung durch sorgfältiges Bedaten meist vor allen anderen.
Zuerst das leere Kennfeld fahren
Darauf sollte man bestehen. Ein Motorrad, das man mit jeder Zelle auf null gefahren hat, liefert einen Referenzwert; eines, an dem sofort geändert wurde, liefert keinen Vergleich.
