Der kleinere Zweizylinder
Kawasakis 296-cm³-Triebwerk trieb eine ganze Familie kleiner Maschinen an. Er will gedreht werden und tut das sehr gern.
Ein Prüfstand ist nicht zwingend
Viele Besitzer stimmen auf der Straße mit Breitbandsonde und Logger ab. Ein Prüfstand macht es schneller und wiederholbar, und das ist der Unterschied zwischen einem guten und einem belastbaren Kennfeld.
Diagnose bleibt ehrlich
Die Serien-Steuerung führt ihren eigenen Fehlerspeicher und ihre eigenen Anpassungen. Eine Werkstatt liest das Motorrad aus, nicht die Abstimmsitzung eines anderen.
Volllast ist einfacher
Vollgas ist eine einzelne Linie im Kennfeld, und ein Prüfstand liest sie schnell aus. Es ist zugleich der Bereich, den ein Straßenfahrer am seltensten besucht – ein Gedanke, bevor man einen ganzen Tag darauf verwendet.
Reglement
Meisterschaften handhaben Motorsteuerung unterschiedlich. Manche erlauben zusätzliche Benzin-Steuergeräte uneingeschränkt, manche schränken sie ein, und einige verbieten sie, und nur das Reglement entscheidet, welcher Fall zutrifft.
Teilen ist nur ein Ausgangspunkt
Eine Datei von einem identischen Motorrad erspart den ersten Abend und nicht mehr. Motoren, Sensoren und Auspuffanlagen unterscheiden sich genug, dass die letzten zehn Prozent immer lokale Arbeit bleiben.
Logging-Software
Eine Breitbandsonde mit Logging-Ausgang macht aus einer Straßenfahrt Daten. Die Auswertung danach ist sicherer und ergiebiger, als die Anzeige während der Fahrt abzulesen.
Der Luftfilterkasten spielt eine Rolle
Alles, was die Ansaugströmung verändert, verändert die gesamte Kennfeldfläche. Wer den Luftfilterkasten nach der Abstimmung ändert, hat eine neue Abstimmsitzung vor sich, keine kleine Korrektur.
Der Weiterverkauf
Ein Motorrad, das mit diesem Steuergerät angeboten wird, sollte die Kennfelddatei und einen Vermerk zur Konfiguration enthalten, für die sie erstellt wurde. Ohne das erbt der nächste Besitzer ein leeres Blatt und eine Rechnung.
