Der Fireblade-Motor, entschärft
Honda drosselte den Superbike-Vierzylinder für den Roadster, verschob die Leistung nach unten im Drehzahlband und machte die Entfaltung deutlich flacher.
Beginn bei null
Ein leeres Kennfeld bedeutet, dass das Motorrad genau wie zuvor läuft, weil jede Korrektur null ist. Das ist der sicherste mögliche Ausgangspunkt, und dort sollte jede Sitzung beginnen.
Das Argument für einen Spezialisten
Ein Tuner mit Prüfstand, Breitbandsonde und Erfahrung mit diesem Motor erzielt an einem Nachmittag, was ein Besitzer in einem ganzen Winter erreicht. Beide Wege führen zum selben Steuergerät.
Der nötige Zeitaufwand
Ein Nachmittag für etwas Brauchbares, ein Winter für etwas Gutes. Wer nicht die Geduld für die zweite Zahl hat, sollte das günstigere Gerät kaufen.
Die Serien-Sonde reicht nicht
Eine Zweipunkt-Lambdasonde meldet nur, ob der Wert nahe am stöchiometrischen Punkt liegt. Sie kann nicht sagen, was das Gemisch bei Volllast tut, genau dort, wo man es wissen müsste.
Ein Kennfeld ist eine Datei
Das heißt, es lässt sich speichern, datieren, kopieren, senden, wiederherstellen und vergleichen. Alles Nützliche an einem programmierbaren Steuergerät folgt aus genau dieser Eigenschaft.
Gebrauchtkauf
Das Steuergerät wechselt zwischen identischen Motorrädern, weil nichts darin an eine bestimmte Maschine gebunden ist. Der Kabelbaum ist der Teil, der passen muss, nicht das Gerät selbst.
Der Wert einer wiederholten Messung
Eine einzelne Messung kann falsch sein. Zwei übereinstimmende Durchgänge sind Daten; ein einzelner Durchgang ist eine Anekdote, und darauf aufgebaute Kennfelder verhalten sich entsprechend.
Der spätere Verkauf
Ein mit diesem Steuergerät angebotenes Motorrad sollte mit der Kennfeld-Datei und einem Hinweis auf die Konfiguration kommen, für die sie geschrieben wurde. Ohne das erbt der nächste Besitzer ein leeres Blatt und eine Rechnung.
