Vier Zylinder, ein Kennfeld
BMWs Superbike war in den unteren Fahrmodi stets konservativ und in den oberen aggressiv abgestimmt. Was der Motor bei einer bestimmten Gasstellung tut, hängt stark davon ab, welcher Modus gewählt ist.
Zwei Auspuffanlagen, zwei Kennfelder
Wer unter der Woche einen Straßendämpfer fährt und am Wochenende einen Renntopf, kann beide Kennfelder auf dem Laptop vorhalten und jeweils das aufspielen, das das Motorrad gerade braucht.
Die Referenzfahrt
Das Motorrad mit leerem Kennfeld fahren und notieren, wo es zögert, schwankt oder flach wirkt. Diese Liste ist die Vorgabe für die erste Kennfeldsitzung.
Sicherungen
Jedes Kennfeld ist eine Datei. Die guten Kennfelder an einem anderen Ort als dem Laptop kopieren, denn der Laptop ist am ehesten das, was im Fahrerlager fällt.
Eine Breitbandsonde ablesen
Die Anzeige zeigt das Gemisch in Echtzeit. Eine konstante Last zu halten und die Zahl zu beobachten ist die gesamte Technik – und erheblich langweiliger, als es klingt.
Windows und ein Kabel
Die Software ist ein Werkstattwerkzeug von JetPrime und keine Smartphone-Anwendung. Sie wirkt zweckmäßig, weil sie es ist, und alles läuft über eine USB-Verbindung.
Gebrauchtkauf
Das Steuergerät wandert zwischen baugleichen Motorrädern, weil nichts darin an eine einzelne Maschine gebunden ist. Der Kabelbaum muss passen, nicht die Box.
Fett starten und zurückarbeiten
Eine anerkannte Methode: Kraftstoff zugeben, bis der Motor deutlich zu fett läuft, dann reduzieren, bis es passt. Das ist langsamer als die Alternative und deutlich sicherer.
Die faire Empfehlung
Wenn der Motor verändert ist und der Besitzer die Arbeit übernehmen will, ist dies das richtige Steuergerät. Trifft eine der beiden Bedingungen nicht zu, ist das voreingestellte Modul der bessere und günstigere Kauf.
