Der schnelle Tourer
Kardanantrieb, eine große Verkleidung und ein Motor, der von überall zieht. Die GT war BMWs Antwort darauf, einen Kontinent schnell statt bequem zu durchqueren.
Wo die Breitbandsonde ins Spiel kommt
Die serienmäßige Lambdasonde meldet nur, ob das Gemisch nahe am stöchiometrischen Verhältnis liegt. Wer ernsthaft kennfeldert, braucht eine Breitbandsonde, sonst sind die eingegebenen Zahlen reine Vermutungen.
Das Ergebnis ablesen
Eine Breitband-Anzeige oder eine protokollierte Datei zeigt, was das Gemisch tatsächlich getan hat. Ohne sie ist Kennfeldarbeit das Ändern von Zahlen in der Hoffnung, es möge stimmen.
Eine Fläche, keine Linie
Eine feste Kurve korrigiert entlang einer Dimension. Ein Kennfeld korrigiert entlang zweier – dadurch lässt sich die Volllast anfetten, ohne die Konstantfahrt-Zellen zu berühren.
Die beiden Steuergeräte im Vergleich
Das eine kommt fertig an und verlangt nichts. Dieses hier kommt leer an und verlangt eine Breitbandsonde, einen Laptop und mehrere Abende. Keines ist besser; sie beantworten unterschiedliche Fragen.

Winterlagerung
Bei ausgeschalteter Zündung fließt kein Strom, und nichts muss abgeklemmt werden. Das Kennfeld bleibt über die Standzeit genau so im Steuergerät, wie es geschrieben wurde.

Jenes ist bei Lieferung fertig und lässt sich nicht verbessern. Dieses hier kommt leer an und hat keine Obergrenze außer der Geduld des Besitzers.
Zwei Konfigurationen, zwei Dateien
Straßendämpfer und Renntopf, bleifreies Benzin und Rennkraftstoff, Sommer und Winter. Jede Kombination verdient ihr eigenes Kennfeld, und das Umschalten dauert weniger als eine Minute, wenn sie erst einmal existieren.
