Ducati offers a racing exhaust for the SP, which a great many owners fit. It is the first modification and rarely the last.
An O-Ring, Not Compound
The joint separates cleanly years later with nothing to scrape from the sealing face, which is not true of anything bedded on jointing paste.

Once the housing is off, holding it up to a light shows whether the reeds still sit flat against their seats. It costs nothing and it settles the question of whether this was a repair or a preference, which is worth knowing before the parts go into a box.
