The JP ES 007 answers the secondary air circuit on the Diavel 1260 S with a fixed resistance, so the controller finds what it expects even though the valve itself has gone.

The Circuit the ECU Watches
Coil resistance, read at every ignition cycle. An empty connector is electrically identical to a broken wire and the dashboard reports it as a fault.
Why the ECU Bothers
Regulations require the system to be shown working rather than merely present, and the self-test exists to satisfy that. It does its job without discrimination.
Blocking the Hose Achieves Nothing
The reeds stay in place and the ports stay open behind them. A blocked line moves the problem rather than removing it.
What a Workshop Reader Would See
Nothing at all, because the circuit answers the self-test rather than avoiding it. That matters when the motorcycle returns to a dealer for something unrelated.
Access Is the Job
The connector takes two minutes. Everything else is bodywork, which is why nobody should be doing this as a standalone task on a Saturday afternoon.
A Job Best Done Once
Combining this with a filter change, a coolant service or an exhaust fitting means the disassembly is paid for by something else. Doing it alone is possible and slightly wasteful.
Legal Position, Stated Plainly
In markets where the secondary air system forms part of the motorcycle's type approval, removing it takes the machine out of road-legal specification until the original parts are back on. That is a matter of local law rather than of engineering, and the reversibility of the part is precisely what makes complying with it straightforward when the time comes.
What the Valve Actually Sounds Like
On a cold start it clicks softly under the tank as the controller opens and closes it, and a valve that has started to stick sometimes buzzes instead. Riders who have heard that noise for years generally notice its absence long before they notice anything else about the deletion.
