Der kleine Zweizylinder ohne Verkleidung
Derselbe Motor wie in der verkleideten 457, nur mit höherem Lenker. Für viele Fahrer ist die Tuono 457 das erste Motorrad und für einige von ihnen das erste für die Rennstrecke.
Dreihundertfünfzig Gramm
So viel wiegt laut Hersteller, was von der oberen Gabelbrücke verschwindet. Eine kleine Zahl an einer Stelle, an der Masse mehr zählt als an den meisten anderen.
Die Farben
Serienmäßig schwarz, bei den Artikelnummern, die diese Farben anbieten, auch blau, rot und titanfarben eloxiert. Die Oberfläche ist die einzige Entscheidung, die zu treffen ist.
Vibrationen
Eine Taste auf der Gabelbrücke bekommt mehr davon ab als eine am Lenker. Deshalb ist das Gehäuse gefräst und der Schalter abgedichtet.
Montagezeit
Zwanzig Minuten bei den meisten Modellen, länger dort, wo der Kabelbaum unter dem Tank liegt. Für keinen Arbeitsschritt muss die Front zerlegt werden.
Zugang
Um an den Stecker zu kommen, muss in der Regel der Tank oder eine Abdeckung angehoben werden. Bei manchen Modellen ist er zu sehen, sobald der Block abgeschraubt ist.
Technische Abnahme
Die Rennserien unterscheiden sich bei den Vorgaben zum Abstellen des Motors. Eine abgedichtete Taste an der serienmäßigen Position erfüllt die meisten, maßgeblich ist aber allein das Reglement.

Einige Modelle haben für die amerikanische Spezifikation eine eigene Nummer, weil der Zündstromkreis dort anders aufgebaut ist.
Was bei billigen Schaltern versagt
Wasser an der Dichtung vorbei, dann Korrosion an den Kontakten, dann ein Wackelkontakt, den niemand findet. Die Schutzart dieses Schalters soll genau das verhindern.
Reglement und technische Abnahme
Meisterschaften legen eigene Regeln dafür fest, wie sich ein Motor abstellen lassen muss und wo das Bedienelement sitzt. Eine abgedichtete Taste an der serienmäßigen Position auf der Gabelbrücke erfüllt die meisten davon, maßgeblich ist aber allein das Reglement, und es lohnt sich, es vor der Bestellung zu lesen.
