Mit dem Kit-Kabelbaum
Ein Rennkabelbaum verändert den Zündkreis, und der Schalter für diese Maschinen ist getrennt gelistet und nicht als Variante.
Dreihundertfünfzig Gramm
Das ist die Herstellerangabe für das, was die obere Gabelbrücke verlässt. Es ist eine kleine Zahl an einer Stelle, an der Masse mehr zählt als anderswo.
Der Knopf
Ein einzelner abgedichteter Druckknopf, der tut, was der Schlüssel getan hat: die Zündung scharf machen, dann abstellen. Zur Bedienung gibt es nichts weiter zu lernen.
Wie der Motor abgestellt wird
Der Knopf unterbricht den Zündkreis genau so, wie es das Drehen des Schlüssels auf Aus getan hat. An der Art, wie der Motor abgestellt wird, ändert sich nichts.
Wegfahrsperren
Trägt der Schlüssel einen Transponder, ist die Antenne um das Schloss Teil des Stromkreises. Diese Frage muss vor dem Ausbau des Schlosses geklärt sein, nicht danach.
Aufbewahrung
Der Originalblock gehört zusammen mit seinem Schlüssel in einen trockenen Beutel. Ein festgefressenes Schloss und ein verlorener Schlüssel kosten zusammen mehr, als dieses Teil gekostet hat.
Zwei Gründe für den Kauf
Das Motorrad wird für eine Rennstrecke vorbereitet, oder der Originalzylinder ist ausgefallen und der Besitzer hat sich entschieden, nicht Gleiches durch Gleiches zu ersetzen.
Bei einem Motorrad, das auch auf der Straße fährt
Eine Maschine für beide Einsatzzwecke ist hier der falsche Kandidat. Lenkschloss und Wegfahrsperre existieren aus Gründen, die auch am Wochenende nicht aufhören zu gelten.
Keine Reißleine hier
Manche Serien verlangen eine angeleinte Notabschaltung. Dieses Teil stellt keine bereit, verhindert aber auch nicht, dass zusätzlich eine montiert wird.
Was genauso bleibt wie zuvor
Schaltereinheit, Startknopf, Instrumente, Beleuchtung, Traktionskontrolle, Fahrmodi und jedes Kennfeld im Motorsteuergerät. Dieses Teil belegt den Platz, den der Zündschlossblock hatte, und spricht nur den Zündkreis an.
