The JP ESR 007 is what keeps the Streetfighter V4S from reporting a front suspension fault after the electronic fork legs have come off in favour of a mechanical set.

A resistance and, where the model needs it, a signal path that answers the controller's health check with values consistent with a working unit. Nothing is intercepted and nothing is generated.
Sealed Against the Elements
The body is potted, which matters because the suspension connectors sit low on the motorcycle where spray, salt and pressure washers all reach them.
Why a Blanking Plug Fails
An open connector is the clearest fault signal available. Taping the plug or leaving it hanging produces exactly the warning the conversion was meant to avoid.
Why It Comes Off
Rebuild costs, a preference for a known valving stack, or a crash that took out one leg. All three end at the same place, which is a conventional cartridge and a controller that needs answering.
Position Feedback
Some models add a travel sensor so the controller knows what the suspension is doing rather than only what it was told to do. That line is monitored too.
Why the Controller Notices
It measures the winding resistance of the motor it expects to find. An empty connector reads as an open circuit, which is the clearest fault signal a controller can receive.
Why Riders Convert for the Track
An algorithm reading wheel speed and brake pressure is making a compromise for conditions it infers. A rider who knows the circuit, the tyre and the fuel load can choose a spring and a valving stack that beats that compromise every lap, which is the whole argument and it applies nowhere else as cleanly.
