Standard Practice on a Track Bike
Shortening the throttle is among the first changes made to an R1 destined for circuits. Less wrist rotation between closed and fully open means the throttle reaches its stop earlier on a corner exit, and on a 200 hp motorcycle that time is measured in metres.
Ride-by-Wire Since 2015
The R1 has no throttle cable, so a quick-action conversion changes the cam profile that the position sensor reads rather than the amount of cable pulled. The effect at the throttle bodies is the same and the mechanism is entirely different.
The Electrical Consequence
The standard switch block is part of the throttle assembly and cannot survive its replacement. On a bike that has to start and stop reliably in a pit lane, the kill switch is not optional equipment.
Independent of the Tube
This unit clamps to the bar on its own, so a different throttle can be fitted later without disturbing anything electrical, and the switch sits where the rider's thumb naturally falls rather than where the tube ends.
Military-Specification Contacts
Sealed elements rated above automotive standards. On a machine pressure washed hot after every session and vibrated at fourteen thousand revs in between, ingress rather than wear is what ends switchgear.
Titanium Only
JetPrime supplies this unit in a single finish. On a bike whose cockpit has usually been rebuilt around track use, one restrained tone keeps the assembly from looking put together out of whatever was available.
