Warum sich die Seiten unterscheiden
Auspuffführung, Kabel und der hintere Bremsgeberzylinder sind an dieser Maschine nicht gleichmäßig verteilt, und die Abdeckungen sind um das geformt, was tatsächlich da ist. Zwei linke Abdeckungen zu bestellen, weil sie auf Fotos austauschbar aussehen, ist ein Fehler, der erst mit einer davon in der Hand auffällt.
Woher der Verschleiß kommt
Von Stiefeln. Eine Monster setzt den Fahrer aufrecht mit den Füßen nah am Rahmen, und die Pulverbeschichtung eines Gitterrohrs erholt sich von Scheuerstellen nicht. Den Bereich früh abzudecken ist beim Wiederverkauf mehr wert, als die Abdeckungen kosten, bei einem Modell, das häufig den Besitzer wechselt.

Montage
Reinigen, entfetten, trocken anlegen, markieren, dann festlegen. Wer unsicher ist, klebt zuerst die unauffälligere Seite. Selbstklebende Teile verzeihen keinen zweiten Versuch, und eine kalte Garage im Februar ist der schlechteste Ort, das herauszufinden. Zwanzig Grad im Raum sind das Mindeste, und der Rahmen selbst sollte dieselbe Temperatur haben und nicht gerade von draußen kommen.
