Diese Anlage hat keine Straßenzulassung. Sie lässt den Vorschalldämpfer vollständig weg — das ist der Grund, warum 60 Prozent des Serienauspuffgewichts verschwinden, und zugleich der Grund, warum die Typgenehmigung mitgeht. Der Betrieb an einem zugelassenen Motorrad liegt in der Verantwortung des Halters.

Woher die sechzig Prozent kommen
Ducatis Serienanlage an diesen Motorrädern trägt einen Vorschalldämpfer — eine zweite Kammer vor dem Endschalldämpfer, die es allein wegen der Geräuschgrenzen gibt. Sie ist schwer und trägt den größten Einzelanteil an den 6 kg, die die Serienanlage wiegt.
Diese Anlage lässt sie weg und führt ein durchgehendes Titanrohr hindurch. Deshalb erreicht die Ersparnis 3,6 kg an einem luftgekühlten Twin der Mittelklasse — und genau deshalb lässt sich die Anlage nicht typgenehmigen.
Zuwachs über das ganze Band
Die meisten Slip-Ons finden ihren Zuwachs an einer Stelle. Dieser hebt die Kurve durchgehend an: 3,7 Nm bei 4.150/min und 2,3 PS bei 7.200. An dem 803-cm³-Luftgekühlten, der seinen Charakter unterhalb von fünftausend zeigt, ist der untere Wert der, den man spürt.
Drei Motorräder, ein Motor
Monster 797 und Scrambler 800 teilen Ducatis luftgekühlten 803-cm³-L-Twin und einen großen Teil des Fahrwerks. Scrambler Icon Dark und Scrambler Classic sind Ausstattungsvarianten derselben Maschine. Alle nehmen diese Anlage.
Die konische Rohrform stammt aus der Grand-Prix-Praxis und gibt dem Heck eine klassische Silhouette, die dem Retro-Anspruch der Scrambler ebenso steht wie der Monster.
Was das für ein zugelassenes Motorrad bedeutet
Eine Hauptuntersuchung beanstandet ein Motorrad, dessen Auspuff keine Typgenehmigung hat, und ein Versicherer kann eine Maschine anders bewerten, die nicht mehr ihrer Homologation entspricht. An einer Monster 797 oder einer Scrambler, mit der zur Arbeit gefahren wird, ist das eine unverhältnismäßige Folge.
