9,4 PS an einer gedrosselten Maschine. Das ist ein größerer Zuwachs, als der Krümmer der Vollleistungs-Z900 bringt — und das liegt daran, dass die Drosselung der A2-Fassung teilweise mechanisch ist: Kawasaki programmiert nicht nur das Steuergerät um.

Dieser Krümmer hat keine Straßenzulassung, und an einem A2-zugelassenen Motorrad zählt das doppelt. Den Katalysator zu entfernen beendet die Typgenehmigung — und die Leistung einer in einer begrenzten Leistungsklasse zugelassenen Maschine zu erhöhen ist noch einmal ein eigenes Problem.
Das ist ein Teil für eine Z900 A2 auf der Rennstrecke. An einem straßenzugelassenen A2-Motorrad ist es keine legale Änderung, und daran ändert kein Papier etwas.
Warum eine A2-Maschine mehr gewinnt
Kawasaki begrenzt die Z900 A2 über eine Kombination aus Kennfeld und Hardware auf 70 kW, und die Serienanlage gehört zu dieser Kombination. Sie zu öffnen holt mehr zurück als an einer Maschine, die nie zurückgehalten wurde.
Ob das nützlich ist, hängt allein davon ab, wo das Motorrad bewegt wird.
Vier Kilogramm
Die Gewichtsersparnis gilt unabhängig davon. 4,03 kg aus der tiefsten und mittigsten Lage des Motorrads, an einer Maschine, die oft von jemandem gefahren wird, der noch Sicherheit aufbaut — das ist eine echte Verbesserung, und sie hängt von den Leistungswerten überhaupt nicht ab.
Sechs Modelljahre
Die A2-Z900 lief von 2018 bis 2023 durchgehend mit derselben Abgasschnittstelle — ein Jahr länger als die Vollleistungs-Erstgeneration. Eine Artikelnummer deckt alles ab.
Jeder Slip-On der A2
Akrapovic gibt an, dass dieser Krümmer mit jeder für die Z900 A2 gebauten Slip-On Line arbeitet. Sitzt bereits ein Dämpfer am Motorrad, ist der Krümmer die einzige verbleibende Anschaffung zur Komplettanlage — und das Teil, das die eigentliche Arbeit leistet.
Vier Kilogramm an einer gedrosselten Maschine
Die A2-Z900 wiegt so viel wie die Vollleistungsmaschine — Kawasaki drosselt die Leistung, nicht die Masse. Ein Fahrer mit begrenztem Führerschein bewegt also 212 kg mit 95 PS, und 4,03 kg vom tiefsten Punkt zu nehmen ist verhältnismäßig die nützlichere der beiden Veränderungen, die dieser Krümmer bietet.
Sechzig Minuten auf der Hebebühne
Die A2-Maschine teilt sich das Fahrwerk mit der Vollleistungs-Z900 derselben Jahre, die Arbeit ist also dieselbe: Der Krümmer kommt von unten heraus, wenn der Bugbereich frei ist, und am Vorderbau muss nichts zerlegt werden.

E-K9R5 deckt die Kawasaki Z900 in der A2-Fassung von 2018 bis 2023 ab. Die Vollleistungsmaschine nimmt je nach Jahr E-K9R2 oder E-K9R4.
