Ein einzelner Katalysator, einzeln verkauft, für eines der eigenartigsten Motorräder, die Kawasaki in diesem Jahrzehnt gebaut hat: einen 249-cm³-Reihenvierzylinder, der über 17.000/min dreht. Es ist kein Teil, das viele brauchen, und wer es braucht, weiß genau warum.

Eine Einheit, nicht zwei
Manche Katalysatoren verkauft Akrapovic paarweise — dann nämlich, wenn ein Motor sein Abgas auf zwei Stränge aufteilt und jeder einen eigenen braucht. Dieser gehört nicht dazu. Die ZX-25R führt ihre vier Zylinder in einen einzigen Sammler, ein Katalysator erledigt also die ganze Arbeit.

Was die Zulassungsdaten sagen — und was nicht
Akrapovic führt diesen Katalysator unter dem Rennsportprogramm und verzeichnet keine EG- oder ECE-Genehmigung dazu. Das sollte man wörtlich nehmen, statt anzunehmen, dass ein eingebauter Katalysator eine Anlage automatisch straßenlegal macht.
Wo eine Akrapovic-Anlage für ein bestimmtes Motorrad unter der Bedingung genehmigt ist, dass ein Katalysator verbaut ist, nennen die Papiere, welcher. Diese Bedingung liest man nach, statt sie zu erschließen.
Warum ein Katalysator so viel kostet
Die Metallwabe ist der billige Teil. Womit sie beschichtet ist, nicht: Palladium, Rhodium und Platin, in Mengen, die zu klein zum Sehen und zu teuer für alles andere sind.
Deshalb ist ein gebrauchter Katalysator ein schlechter Kauf. Die Beschichtung lässt sich nicht prüfen, und eine überhitzte oder vergiftete Einheit sieht genauso aus wie eine funktionierende.
Ein ungewöhnlicher Motor
Vier Zylinder auf 249 cm³ heißt rund 62 cm³ je Zylinder. Kawasaki baute die ZX-25R für Märkte, in denen eine 250er das obere Ende einer Führerscheinklasse ist, und gab ihr eine Drehzahlgrenze, der keine andere aktuelle 250er nahekommt.
Ein solcher Motor ist beim Abgasdurchfluss heikler als ein Einzylinder oder ein Twin, und deshalb hat Akrapovic sich die Mühe gemacht, einen auf die eigene Anlage abgestimmten Katalysator zu entwickeln, statt den Serienkatalysator zu belassen.
Keine Auspuffanlage
Was in der Packung liegt: ein Katalysator. Kein Dämpfer, keine Krümmer, kein Verbindungsrohr. Das ist ein Bauteil einer Anlage und keine Anlage.
Drei Modelljahre
Das Teil deckt die ZX-25R von 2020 bis 2022 ab. Kawasaki hat die Maschine seither weiterentwickelt; für spätere Motorräder sollte vor der Bestellung die aktuelle Passung geprüft werden.
Zulassung
Akrapovic verzeichnet für diesen Katalysator keine EG- oder ECE-Typgenehmigung. Gehen Sie nicht davon aus, dass er eine Auspuffanlage für sich genommen straßenlegal macht.
