Eine Anlage, drei Motorräder. Yamaha baut die YZ250F für Motocross, die YZ250FX für Cross-Country und die WR250F für Enduro um denselben 250er-Einzylinder, und Akrapovic deckt alle drei mit dieser Teilenummer ab.

Drei Motorräder, ein Motor
Die Unterschiede zwischen den dreien sind Übersetzung, Fahrwerk, Seitenständer und Beleuchtung — nicht der Motor und nicht die Auspuffführung. Deshalb bedient eine Anlage alle drei, und deshalb braucht ein Fahrer, der von einer YZ auf eine WR wechselt, kein zweites Rohr.
Yamahas umgekehrt eingebauter Zylinder setzt den Einlass nach vorn und den Auslass nach hinten, was dem Krümmer einen längeren, geraderen Verlauf gibt als bei einer üblichen Anordnung. Akrapovic arbeitet damit statt dagegen.
Was 830 Gramm an einer 250er-Enduro ausmachen
Ein Endurofahrer hebt sein Motorrad öfter an als ein Motocrosser. Knapp 0,9 kg klingen bescheiden, bis man die Maschine zum vierten Mal in einer Runde aus einem Graben zieht — und die Masse geht oben und seitlich weg, nicht in der Mitte.
Der Leistungsgewinn ist ein halbes PS. Akrapovic tut nicht so, als wäre es mehr, und wir auch nicht: Das Argument für diese Anlage sind Gewicht und Ansprechverhalten, kein Prüfstandsdiagramm.
Nicht für die Straße
Ausschließlich geschlossene Strecken, keine EG- oder ECE-Genehmigung. Eine WR250F ist in manchen Märkten serienmäßig zulassungsfähig; diese Anlage entzieht dem die Grundlage. Mit ihr wird das Motorrad zur Wettbewerbsmaschine.
Enduro und Motocross verlangen Verschiedenes
Eine WR250F verbringt Stunden bei Teillast im Wald, eine YZ250F dreißig Minuten bei vollem Lärm auf präparierter Strecke. Dieselbe Anlage bedient beide, weil der Motor derselbe ist — das Verschleißbild aber nicht: Ein Endurogerät sammelt Schlamm in der Krümmerabschirmung, ein Motocrosser sammelt Einschläge.
Wird das Motorrad im Wald bewegt, lohnt nach jeder Ausfahrt der Blick auf den Krümmer dort, wo er am Rahmen vorbeiführt — dort hält festgesetzter Schlamm die Hitze, und dort verfärbt sich eine Titanwand zuerst.
Wie Akrapovic zu seinen Zahlen kommt
Akrapovic misst auf eigenen, rechnergesteuerten Rollenprüfständen: Serienmotorrad gegen umgebautes, am selben Tag, unter denselben Bedingungen. Deshalb wirken die in diesem Katalog veröffentlichten Zugewinne bescheiden gegenüber dem, was mancher Hersteller behauptet — der Vergleich ist ehrlich, und die Bezugsgröße ist ein echtes Serienmotorrad und kein verschlissenes.
Es heißt auch: Die Werte gelten für die gemessene Maschine. Ein Motorrad mit anderem Luftfilter, Rennkennfeld oder müdem Motor wiederholt sie nicht genau, und Akrapovic tut nicht so, als wäre es anders.
Drei Motorräder, eine Bestellung
Weil die Anlage YZ250F, YZ250FX und WR250F abdeckt, hält eine Werkstatt, die mehr als eines davon betreut, nur eine Teilenummer vor. Für ein Clubteam ist das eine echte Vereinfachung.
