Ein frischer Reifensatz ist eines der schönsten Dinge, die man einer Monster 1200 gönnen kann, und für die ersten Kilometer eines der heimtückischsten. Neuer Gummi hat eine glatte, mitunter leicht spiegelnde Lauffläche und bietet, bis er eingefahren ist, weniger Grip als der abgefahrene Reifen, den er ersetzt hat, besonders an einem kalten Tag. Viele Fahrer lernen das auf dem Weg vom Reifenhändler nach Hause. Für die Monster 1200 von 2014 bis 2018 trägt Accossatos Gabelschutz vorne die Artikelnummer PF05: zwei schwarze Protektoren, die bei einem Wegrutschen der Front als Erste auftreffen sollen.

Fertigung und Materialgüte
Der PF05 besteht aus zwei schwarzen Protektoren, einem links und einem rechts vom Vorderrad. Aluminium und Kunststoff nennt Accossato als Werkstoffe, und der Hersteller gibt an, dass Distanzstücke, Schrauben und alle weiteren Teile für die Montage im selben Karton liegen. Was die Protektoren bieten, ist eine Auffangstelle für einen Sturz. Rutscht oder kippt die Monster 1200, sollen sie den Boden vor der Gabel erreichen, was den Schaden in diesem Bereich verringern kann; eine Garantie, dass sonst nichts verkratzt, geben sie nicht. Behandeln Sie sie als Verschleißteile und tauschen Sie einen Protektor, sobald er durchgescheuert oder verformt ist.
Die erste Fahrt auf neuen Reifen
Reifenmonteure erleben dieselbe Szene immer wieder: Ein Fahrer holt das Motorrad mit frischem Gummi ab, fährt zügig los und kommt mit einem zerkratzten Hebel zurück. Ihr Rat ist einfach. Betrachten Sie die ersten Kilometer als Einfahrzeit. Halten Sie die Monster 1200 in den ersten Kreisverkehren eher aufrecht, bremsen Sie in der Geraden und steigern Sie die Schräglage Stück für Stück, damit sich die glänzende Laufflächenoberfläche von der Mitte nach außen allmählich anraut. Meiden Sie dabei lackierte Linien und Kanaldeckel. Prüfen Sie vor der Weiterfahrt selbst den Luftdruck, und fragen Sie, ob die Räder laut Handbuch wieder richtig eingebaut wurden, denn für einen neuen Reifen musste das Rad ohnehin ausgebaut werden. Kaltes Wetter verlangsamt den ganzen Vorgang, und auf nasser Fahrbahn lohnt sich Eile erst recht nicht. Werfen Sie zu Hause einen Blick auf das Motorrad, die Protektoren eingeschlossen.
Passform und Kompatibilität
Accossato listet den PF05 für die Monster 1200, Baujahr 2014 bis 2018; für die Jahre 2019 bis 2021 gibt es stattdessen den PF049. Für dieselbe Monster existieren zwei weitere Accossato-Schutzteile: die hinteren Achsprotektoren PP069, gelistet von 2014 bis 2017, und die Sturzpads TP080 für 2014 bis 2018. Drehen Sie nach der Montage das Vorderrad per Hand und schwenken Sie den Lenker vollständig in beide Richtungen, um sicherzugehen, dass nichts berührt, und kontrollieren Sie die Schrauben an Ihrer Monster 1200 nach der ersten Fahrt erneut.
Straßenzulassung
Der PF05 erreicht uns ohne deutsche ABE und ohne Prüfbericht, deshalb verkaufen wir ihn für Rennen und Wettbewerb.
