⟲ 360° — drag meThe facts.
DescriptionThe whole story▼
There is one way to service a dry filter badly, and it is easy to do without noticing: pointing the air line at the dirty face. That drives everything the weave has caught deeper into it, and on a bike whose airbox is opened as often as an RC 390's it will tell within a season. The PM200S is cleaned from the clean side outwards, so the dust leaves by the door it came in. Everything else about looking after it is forgiving.
Key Features
- Cleaned with an air line alone in the ordinary case: no fluids, no drying time, no waiting
- Dry polyester weave that is never treated with filter oil
- Filtering surface roughly twice that of comparable performance panels for this box
- Direct fit in the series airbox; nothing is modified and no remap follows
- Filtration at 80 microns for mixed road and circuit use
- Built to be reused for the motorcycle's whole life, with two years of warranty from purchase
Which face is which
Hold the panel up and the two sides are not equivalent. One looks towards the intake and stays comparatively clean; the other faces the world and collects. Air pushed from the clean side travels the route the dust took, only backwards, and lifts it out of the fabric. Air pushed from the dirty side does the opposite: it embeds the load, and the element that comes out looking better has in fact been made worse. Keep the nozzle a hand's width away and move it steadily rather than holding it in one spot.
Why it matters more on this bike
An RC 390 is opened more often than most road machines — track days, novice grids, a bike that lives in a van between events. Every one of those is another chance to service the element, which is an advantage right up to the point where the servicing itself is done backwards. Because the medium is dry, the whole procedure takes minutes and can be done in a paddock without a bucket or a drying rack. Do it the right way round and the panel going back in is as open as the one that came out. That is the honest benefit: nothing recovered, simply a restriction that does not quietly climb across a season of use.
Care and cleaning
The routine is short: air from the clean face outwards, inspect against a light, refit. Two or three times a year, or after anything that leaves visible mud on it, give the panel a bath — warm water, a spot of washing-up liquid, a long rinse, then air alone until it is bone dry. Never over a heater, never near a flame, and never back in the bike while damp. Sprint Filter's illustrated instructions are in the Downloads tab, and this element carries no oil at any stage of the process.
Fitment & Compatibility
Listed for the KTM RC 390 of 2022 to 2026. A model-specific panel rather than a universal sheet trimmed to shape, shared with thirteen other machines in the KTM and Husqvarna small-capacity range; the Fitment tab carries the full list.
