Function
Öhlins publishes 12 mm, 30 mm, 26 mm for 06766-01 — the dimensions are the identity of the part. A worn eye bearing is often mistaken for worn damping. The end eye carries the whole load of the damper into the chassis. Thread size and eye diameter identify the part.
Why the Original
The alternative to a service part is usually a new damper, which is why this catalogue exists. Buying the individual part rather than a complete assembly is what makes servicing an Öhlins unit worthwhile. Öhlins parts are unit-specific: a close dimension is not a substitute. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation.
Getting the Number Right
Order under 06766-01. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. Check dimension a 12 mm, dimension b 30 mm, dimension c 26 mm against what you have removed; a close size is not the same part. The end eye carries the entire load of the damper into the chassis, which is why it is machined rather than cast. Öhlins machines many eyes from the same billet as the damper body.
Fitting and Setup Service
If you would rather not open the damper yourself, we can do it — we are an authorised Öhlins service centre and rebuild these units as a matter of routine.
