DescriptionThe whole story▼
The KYT NZ-Race in matte black delivers race-derived protection and all-day wearability in one genuinely accessible package. Built around a Tri-Fiber composite shell — combining Kevlar®, carbon and fibreglass — it brings track-tested engineering to daily road riding without the premium-brand price tag.
Key Features
- Tri-Fiber shell (Kevlar®, carbon and fibreglass) keeps weight down to approximately 1,400 g ±50 g in size M while meeting the rigorous UNECE 22-06 standard.
- Scratch-resistant visor with variable thickness delivers Class 1 optical clarity — Pinlock Max Vision 70 anti-fog insert included in the box.
- Three front air intakes channel airflow efficiently, keeping you comfortable on a long commute or an extended track day alike.
- Quick-release visor mechanism makes on-the-go swaps straightforward, even with gloves on.
- Double-D-ring retention system provides a secure, fuss-free fit every time you fasten up.
- Removable and washable interior lining maintains comfort and hygiene over thousands of kilometres.
- Prepared for Bluetooth communication systems, so adding an intercom later requires no cutting or drilling.
Everyday Usability — Where the NZ-Race Earns Its Keep
Track heritage only matters if it translates to real-world benefit, and the NZ-Race does exactly that. The wind-tunnel-tested shell shape reduces buffeting on the motorway, which in turn lowers fatigue on longer rides. The matte black finish resists minor scuffs and fingermarks better than a gloss equivalent, keeping the helmet looking sharp with minimal upkeep. The aerodynamic profile stays stable at speed without requiring an aggressive tuck, making it equally at home on a weekend canyon run or a daily commute.
Build Quality and Protection
KYT developed the NZ-Race shell geometry directly from experience in circuit competition, which means the structural engineering is not a marketing claim — it is the starting point. Compliance with UNECE 22-06 confirms the helmet meets current European safety requirements for both road and professional track use. The Tri-Fiber layup strikes a practical balance: lighter than a pure fibreglass lid, more affordable than a full carbon unit, and stiff where it counts.
