Staggered Mounting
The offset arrangement rather than the aligned one, matched to the second of Ducati's two master cylinder clamps. Neither version can be persuaded to serve for the other.
Drawn Around a Tall Bar
An adventure handlebar sits higher and turns further than anything else in the range. The mounting geometry here accounts for that rather than treating it as a variation.
Nothing Smaller Exists
Ducati sells the block complete because the switches are moulded into it. One hesitant contact therefore condemns the whole assembly whichever supplier provides the replacement.
Resistance, Then Trouble
A damp terminal oxidises and adds resistance rather than breaking. The control answers in dry weather and hesitates in wet, which takes a long time to diagnose properly.
Identical Across a Run
A cutting programme holds its dimensions indefinitely. Moulding tools wear, which is why two blocks with the same part number can sit measurably differently.
No Printing to Fade
The legends on a moulded block are surface applied and gone within a few summers. On a bike with four riding modes to choose between, losing them is more than cosmetic.
A Chassis for Both Surfaces
Long travel, a nineteen inch front wheel and a frame that still works on tarmac. The 950 is the Multistrada that takes the compromise most seriously.
A Hundred and Thirteen Horsepower
From the 937 cc Testastretta. Ducati built the 950 because the 1200 was more motorcycle than most buyers wanted and priced it to match.
Screen Adjustable by Hand
Without tools, at a standstill. On a motorcycle bought for long distances that detail decides whether a rider arrives fresh or deaf.
Four Bikes, Genuinely
Ducati's marketing claim about the Multistrada was more accurate than most, because the riding modes really do reconfigure the motorcycle rather than merely softening the throttle. Enduro drops the engine to seventy-five horsepower and rewrites the ABS strategy, and on a gravel track that is a different machine from the one that was on a motorway an hour earlier.
