The Caponord is a big adventure tourer, and it is the least likely machine in this catalogue to lose its side stand for track use. The eliminator still has a job here — as a fix for a switch that has failed, corroded or been damaged, rather than as a race modification.

The Failure This Actually Solves
Side stand switches live at the bottom of the motorcycle, in the path of everything the front wheel throws up. On a bike used year-round for touring, water and salt eventually get into the contacts and the symptom is a machine that cranks but will not fire, usually a long way from home. Replacing the Aprilia switch is one answer; removing the circuit from the equation entirely is the other.
Be Deliberate About This One
On a Caponord that still carries its stand — and almost all of them do — the interlock is doing real work. Fitting the eliminator means the bike will start and can be ridden away with the stand down. That is a reasonable trade for a rider who knows it and checks; it is not something to fit and forget on a touring machine.

Keeping the Original
Aprilia side stand switches are not expensive, but they are model-specific and increasingly slow to source for a Caponord of this age. If the original is merely dirty rather than dead, it is worth cleaning the contacts and refitting it before committing to the eliminator — and worth keeping either way, because a bike sold with its interlock intact is easier to sell than one without.
