DescriptionThe whole story

The JP ES 060 covers the Daytona 675's secondary air path at the cylinder head with a solid cover.

Key Features

  • Triumph Daytona 675 (2006–2016)
  • Blanks the secondary air ports in the head
  • Machined from solid aluminium
  • O-ring sealed, no jointing compound
  • Original fastener positions
  • Standard housing refits at any time

A Hundred and Eighty-Five Kilograms

Wet, which was competitive at the time and remains perfectly respectable. The Daytona was never the lightest and always the best to ride.

A Slipper Clutch

Standard from the beginning, which was unusual in the class and meant the bike could be ridden hard into a corner without unsettling the rear.

An O-Ring, Not Compound

The joint separates cleanly years later with nothing to scrape off the head face, which is not true of anything sealed with jointing paste.

A Cracked Reed's Signature

Soot inside the airbox and a filter discoloured well before its interval. It is almost always found while chasing something unrelated.

Torque Matters Here

The fasteners go into an aluminium head, and Triumph specifies a figure for a reason. Guessing at it is how a straightforward job becomes an expensive one.

What Is Gained

One fewer perishable component on the engine, a tidier top end and an exhaust port that cannot admit anything. No power, no throttle response and no consumption change, which is worth stating plainly.

A Repair as Much as a Deletion

On any Triumph past its first decade the reed housing is a component with a limited remaining life. Replacing it with aluminium removes a job that was coming rather than merely removing an emissions device.

Doing It With the Head On

Nothing about this requires the engine to be opened. The housing bolts to an external face and the cover replaces it in the same position, which is why the job is measured in minutes rather than hours.

Not an Engine Job

Nothing is opened, nothing is drained and nothing internal is disturbed. It is an external component on an external face.
