DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Accossato Ready To Brake PRS 14x17-18-19 is a radial brake master cylinder sized for scooters and smaller motorcycles, combining Accossato's shortened dead-stroke design with a piston small enough to keep lever effort light on machines that do not need the fluid displacement of a larger bore. The three-position lever pivot, adjustable between 17, 18 and 19 mm, lets the rider tune how the lever responds without opening the unit, while the long folding lever is available in seven colours and comes fitted with a relieving eyelet. An integrated micro-switch handles the brake light function inside the shark-shaped body itself.

Key Features

  • 14 mm piston diameter, the size Accossato suggests for scooters and smaller motorcycles
  • Adjustable lever pivot distance: 17, 18 or 19 mm to suit the situation of use
  • Folding lever, long version, with relieving eyelet (RST), available in seven colours
  • Integrated micro-switch handling the brake light function inside the unit
  • Shark-shaped body with an offset fixing riser and a quick-release jumper
  • CNC-machined aluminium construction, fully made in Italy
  • Stainless steel mounting screws and a zinc-plated bleed valve
  • Seals manufactured from Formula 1 compound material

Construction and Material Quality

Like the rest of the Accossato Ready To Brake range, this master cylinder is machined from aluminium and assembled in Italy rather than built up from generic parts. The mounting screws are stainless steel, the bleed valve is zinc-plated steel, and the internal seals are made from Formula 1 compound so they keep sealing through repeated heat cycles and contact with brake fluid. The fixing riser is offset to cut down on flex of the body while the lever is pulled, and it also carries a quick-release jumper that lets the unit come off the clamp for servicing without touching the hose connection. The passive stroke, the amount of lever travel before the pads start to bite, is reduced across the whole Ready To Brake design without the rider needing to make any adjustment.

Piston Diameter and Adjustable Pivot Explained

The 14 mm piston is the smallest offered in the Accossato radial range and is the diameter the manufacturer recommends for scooters and other lighter machines, where a smaller bore keeps the lever light while still moving enough fluid for a single-disc front brake. Because this unit carries the PRS designation, the lever pivot distance is not fixed at one figure but can be set to 17, 18 or 19 mm at the lever itself, without swapping any parts. A shorter pivot distance gives a lighter, more immediate action at the lever, while the longer setting asks for a touch more hand force in exchange for a more direct feel at the pads, so the same master cylinder can be adjusted to suit a scooter commute one day and a sharper, sportier setting the next. Accossato describes this adjustable pivot as suitable for all types of use for exactly this reason.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato does not tie this master cylinder to a specific vehicle list, and our records carry no confirmed fitments for the code; it is sold as a universal unit for scooters and lighter motorcycles running a 14 mm radial brake. Before buying, measure the handlebar clamp, which should be 22 mm, check that the existing brake system is engineered around a 14 mm piston, and confirm the callipers and discs already fitted suit that bore size.

Road Approval

This master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for track and competition use.

Scope of Delivery

The package includes the Accossato Ready To Brake PRS 14x17-18-19 radial brake master cylinder with the integrated micro-switch, fitted with a long folding lever and relieving eyelet (RST) in the colour selected, together with the mounting nut. Stainless steel mounting screws, the zinc-plated bleed valve and the Formula 1 compound seals are assembled on the unit. The fluid reservoir is not included and must be purchased separately.
