DescriptionThe whole story▼

On a track day, the clutch of a Panigale 1199 S does most of its work at the two ends of a session: rolling out of the pit lane, and in the paddock afterwards. At a race start it does the most important job of the day in about two seconds. In each case the clutch is used rarely but has to be found instantly, with a friction point you can trust. The Accossato ESH011 is a clutch lever for the 1199 S from 2012 to 2016, machined from aluminium, anodised, and adjustable in its distance to the grip.

Key Features

  • For the Panigale 1199 S, model years 2012 to 2016
  • Replaces the original clutch lever on its mounting
  • Reach adjustable for a reliable friction point
  • Blade length short, standard (approximately 138 mm) or long
  • Machined aluminium, anodised
  • Black hub, blade colour to choose
  • Rigid construction without a joint; boxed individually

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato cuts the ESH011 from aluminium on CNC machines and finishes it by anodising. The hub carries the pivot and the reach adjuster and stays black; the blade is coloured and joined to the hub as one solid piece. There is no folding joint in the lever, so the clutch picks up at the same point every time you let it out, which is what a start depends on.

Race Starts and the Pit Lane

On a Panigale 1199 S, a good start is mostly a question of feeding the clutch out smoothly while the engine holds steady revs. Let it out too quickly and the front wheel lifts or the engine bogs; too slowly and the clutch slips for longer than it should. Riders practise this until the movement of the fingers is automatic, and that only works if the lever sits in exactly the same place every time, close enough that the fingers do not have to search for the friction point.

The pit lane is the opposite exercise: rolling slowly in first gear, with the clutch partly in, while you check the track is clear before joining. Both tasks are easiest with two fingers on the lever and the hand still firmly around the grip. Bring the reach in until that feels natural in your race gloves, then confirm on the stand that the clutch frees completely at full pull. A short blade suits two-finger use and exists in blue, green, orange, gold and silver.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato gives 2012 to 2016 as the model years of the Panigale 1199 S for this clutch lever, which fits on the original clutch mounting. On the other side of the bar, the EDF099 is Accossato's brake lever for the same bike.

Road Approval

A German ABE for the ESH011 is not documented. We supply it for the track.
