DescriptionThe whole story▼
The same Shaytan 2 graphic returns here in a matte finish, Carbon Red Anthracite in place of the gloss Blue Green sold alongside it — red panels breaking across a dark anthracite base rather than blue and green over the lighter one. This is the fourth of this batch's decors without a manufacturer photograph available to check the naming against, so the colour is reported here exactly as Shark's own supplier data states it, with that limitation said outright rather than glossed over. A matte topcoat is the one thing this listing can state with confidence about the finish itself, since that value comes from the same structured price-list field used for every other decor in this range, not from an image.
Not the FIM flagship
Stated up front: this is the Aeron, not the FIM-homologated Aeron GP FIM 2 sold separately above it. Every decor in this line, this one included, carries Norme 2206 on the price list with no FIM suffix — a road-approval standard, not a racing one. Shared shell philosophy and spoiler development are where the resemblance to the flagship ends; homologation and price are not part of what the two lines have in common.
Shell: COVA carbon and aramid
Shark builds this shell from its COVA composite, a carbon-fibre and aramid-fibre blend at roughly 80/20, across two separate shell sizes instead of one size stretched over the whole range. The manufacturer's own 2027 spec data for this model states 1,440 g for the first, smallest shell — the same structured figure recorded for this line's other current decors, not a number pulled from an unrelated colourway or an older model year.
What ECE 22.06 actually tests
January 2024 is the point where ECE 22.06 became mandatory across the EU for any newly homologated helmet, replacing the older 22.05 standard this shell would have carried a decade earlier. The number of strike points alone tells part of the story — five under the old rules, eighteen under this one — but the more meaningful addition is a test 22.05 simply did not include: an oblique impact against an abrasive surface, built to measure how much rotational force a glancing hit sends into the brain rather than only the straight-line force a perpendicular drop produces. Shark tests this shell with its accessories fitted, not stripped down for a better score.
Weight as a number your neck carries all day
The figure Shark states for this shell's first size is 1,440 g, and a matte topcoat adds nothing measurable to that number over the gloss version of the same graphic. What that weight means depends less on the number itself and more on how long you keep the helmet on: a short ride barely notices fifty grams either way, but a full riding day compounds every gram across hundreds of small head movements, and that is where a lighter composite shell genuinely earns its keep over a heavier alternative.
Ventilation: five in, seven out
Five intakes at the front and seven exhausts at the back give this shell a deliberately larger exit path than entry path, pulling warm air away from the crown rather than letting it accumulate. That imbalance is more noticeable on a hot, slow ride than a fast open one, where airflow does most of the cooling work regardless of vent design.
Visor and Pinlock
The fitted visor is Optical Class 1, treated against fog and scratches, with a tool-free quick-release mechanism and tear-off posts built in for track days. Pinlock compatibility is standard equipment; the Max Vision 120 Pinlock housing and the separate Instant Photochromic visor Shark sells for this platform are both accessories, not fitted from the factory on this or any current Aeron decor.
Interior and fit
The Best Fit interior runs removable, washable Alvéotech antimicrobial textile with Easy Fit grooves for glasses arms, held by a magnetic double-D buckle. A SHARK Emergency Remove System sits in the cheek pads for first-responder access. Six head sizes, XS through XXL, are split across two shell sizes rather than one shell padded to fit the whole range — the smaller shell taking the smaller sizes rather than every size sharing one mould with varying foam thickness.
Wind noise, honestly
A closed full-face shell with a sealed chin bar is quieter at speed than any open helmet purely by construction, and nothing about this matte finish changes that geometry. No manufacturer decibel figure exists for this specific model, so this listing does not invent one — the wind-tunnel work behind the shell targets drag and stability, a related but separate question from cabin noise, and conflating the two would overstate what either figure actually measures.
Where this decor sits on price
Plain Aeron decors open the current range, graphic decors — this Shaytan 2 finish among them — sit one step higher, and replica liveries sit at the top. Above the whole line, the FIM-homologated Aeron GP FIM 2 is a different helmet built to a different standard that this road-focused decor was never priced against.
| Model | FIM |
|---|---|
| Aeron, plain decor | no |
| Aeron, Shaytan 2 Mat (this helmet) | no |
| Aeron, replica decor | no |
| Aeron GP FIM 2 | yes |
Spare parts, later
A scratched visor is a spare part here, not a reason to replace the helmet. Shark stocks the Aeron/Aeron GP visor family under its own part numbers across the whole platform, keeping a replacement available well beyond the life of any single graphic — the same part fits this matte decor and the gloss version of the same graphic equally.
What this helmet does not have
Said plainly: no SHARP rating applies to this decor with any confidence. SHARP does list an "Aeron GP" tested in August 2025, but that entry traces to a now-discontinued replica decor from an earlier model generation with no confirmed link to this 2027 shell, and it is not treated as if it resolved the question here. No MIPS, no DOT or Snell approval, no wind-noise figure, and no manufacturer photograph available to verify this colourway against.
In the box
The helmet ships with the visor fitted, a helmet cover, reflective bands, five breath filters, and summer and winter anti-fog masks, along with Shark's documentation for the 5-year warranty. The gloss Blue Green version of this same graphic is a separate product with its own listing, not a colour option selectable from this one.
