Every flow figure quoted for a filter, including the 5,050 l/m²/sec attached to this one, describes clean cloth. It is the number on the first ride, not the number four thousand kilometres later, and no manufacturer can honestly quote anything else. What separates media is therefore less the figure itself than what becomes of it afterwards — whether the element drifts away from its rating for good, or comes back to it. PM210S is built for the second case: dry woven polyester, cleaned and refitted, in the standard airbox of the Carbon.
Key Features
- One layer of dry woven polyester, never oiled at manufacture or afterwards
- 80 µm filtration with a rated flow of 5,050 l/m²/sec through clean cloth
- Retention quoted at 93.13 % of 100-micron test particles
- Close to twice the filtering area of a typical performance element, in the series frame
- Fits the standard housing as it stands: no cutting, no adapter, no remapping
- Washable, specified for the life of the motorcycle, covered for two years
A rating and what becomes of it
A paper panel meets its own specification once and then leaves it behind. Every kilometre after fitting moves it further from the figure it was sold on, and the only remedy in the box is a new one. A washable weave breaks that one-way drift. It loads in the same direction, since nothing avoids that, but a service returns it to the clean-cloth condition the rating describes, and it can do so as often as the bike is serviced. Roughly double the filtering surface of a conventional performance element also means the same load lies thinner, so the drift between services is gentler to begin with.
Nothing applied, nothing carried
The dry construction matters for a second reason that has nothing to do with flow. This element carries no filter oil at any stage, not when new and not after a wash, so there is no film in the intake tract that can travel downstream when the box gets hot or when a panel has been over-treated during servicing. And to be plain about the limit — a slot-in element does not make a standard 1200 noticeably stronger. It makes one consumable behave better.
Care and cleaning
Air from the clean face outwards is the whole routine for the PM210S in normal use; the trapped material leaves the weave the way it came in rather than being pressed further into it. When the deposit is greasy rather than dusty, lukewarm water and a small amount of mild detergent lift it, and the rinsing goes on until the run-off is clear. Dry it in open moving air and give it the time that takes. Heat is what damages polyester, so no gun, no heater, no flame. The panel returns to the box dry and untreated, and Sprint Filter's maintenance sheet sits under Downloads on this page.
Fitment & Compatibility
Cut for the airbox of the Indian FTR 1200 Carbon as built from 2020 to 2026, a single element per machine. Three bikes in the family share this part number: the FTR/S listing reaches back to 2019, while the Rally and the Carbon both begin in 2020. The full list is under the Fitment tab.
