Three kilos off the back of a Tuareg, and the exhaust keeps a Euro 5+ certificate. Spark's Dakar slip-on is named after the desert rally and built to look the part.
Key Features
- Euro 5+ approved slip-on for the Aprilia Tuareg 660, 2022 to 2026.
- Dakar silencer in titanium with a stainless heat shield.
- Connecting pipe for the standard lateral mounting position.
- 2,2 kg against 5,1 kg standard — Spark states a 50 per cent saving.
- Special sound-absorbing material for an aggressive but not invasive note.
- Homologation certificate issued by the Italian ministry.
Half the Weight of the Original
2,2 kg against 5,1. Spark rounds it to a fifty per cent saving and that is close enough — on a middleweight adventure bike, three kilos off the silencer is something you feel picking the machine up off its side stand rather than something you read on a dyno sheet.
The Tuareg's whole appeal is how little there is of it. Three kilos removed from the highest, most rearward mass on the motorcycle is the best place on the bike to remove them from.
Why Titanium Here
Titanium is roughly forty per cent lighter than stainless steel at the same strength, and it holds its shape through the heat cycling a silencer sees rather than distorting the way thin steel eventually does. That is the whole argument for it on a rally bike that gets ridden hard for long days and then left to cool in the open.
The surface is left bare rather than coated, so what you see is the metal itself. Over time and heat it takes on a faint bronze cast at the hot end — normal for titanium, and not a fault.
The Sound Was Engineered
Spark singles out the sound-absorbing material inside the case as the reason the note came out the way it did: aggressive without being invasive, in the company's own phrasing. That is a harder target than simply loud, and on a bike ridden for eight-hour days it is the one that matters.
Euro 5+ With a Certificate
The approval is Euro 5+ and Spark states that the certificate was issued by the Italian ministry after the tests came back positive. Nothing else on the motorcycle has to change: the slip-on ships with its connecting pipe for the standard lateral mounting position and a stainless heat shield.
Titanium or Dark, Same Price
Spark builds this silencer in two surfaces at the same 649 euro. This is the titanium one; the dark electro-coloured stainless version is GAP0501DOM. There is no cheaper option and no more expensive one — the choice is what you want to look at.
What Comes Off the Bike
The Tuareg's standard silencer is a large steel box with a pressed shield over it, sized around the Euro 5 limit rather than around the motorcycle. Spark replaces it from the connecting pipe back, so the manifold and the catalytic converter stay exactly as Aprilia built them.
That is what keeps the approval intact and what keeps the fitting to an hour with hand tools rather than an afternoon.
Fitment & Compatibility
Aprilia Tuareg 660, 2022 to 2026. The dark version of the same silencer is GAP0501DOM at the same price.
Road Approval
EC type-approved to Euro 5+, with a certificate issued by the Italian ministry. File it with the vehicle documents.
