The Crossfire 3 has a Hyper Extension Block system built into the rear of the boot. As the name says, its job is to block hyperextension: it limits how far the shaft can tip backwards relative to the foot section, a movement that can strain the ankle when a foot gets caught or slammed back. Sidi lists this replacement as position 155.

How the Block Works
Sidi boots with a pivoting shaft need freedom to flex forward for control, but rearward travel has to stop at a safe point. The block provides that end stop. If it is broken or missing, the shaft can move further back than intended, so a damaged part should be renewed.
