DescriptionThe whole story▼

Setting a rider on a ZX-10RR is a matter of a few millimetres in each direction, and the standard clip-ons give you almost no room to work with. SM50B opens that up. Bonamici's non-raised 50 mm clip-on carries 16 mm of offset, 6.5 degrees of downward inclination and a 245 mm tube of which 225 mm can be used for mounting — which means switchgear, lever clamp and bar end can all be slid to where the rider wants them rather than where the bar allows.

Key Features

  • 245 mm of tube with 225 mm usable — the practical figure, because it is the usable length that determines how far in or out the levers can go.
  • No rise at all, placing the grips at fork-leg height for a committed, front-loaded position.
  • 6.5 degrees of drop across the bar, which keeps the wrist straight when the rider is tucked rather than upright.
  • 16 mm offset to clear the top yoke and tank at lock.
  • Solid billet aluminium, anodised, machined in Italy. Part number SM50B.

Rider Fit Is the Last Thing Left

The RR comes out of the crate with the engine and wheels a racer would otherwise pay for, so the remaining gains are ergonomic. Where the hands sit determines how much weight goes through the front tyre on entry, how the arms load under braking, and how quickly the rider tires over a twenty-minute session. Being able to move a lever clamp 20 mm inboard is not a detail on a race weekend; it is the difference between a comfortable third session and a sloppy one.

A Clamp Size Shared Across the Class

Bonamici lists SM50B for the CBR1000RR-R, the R1, the R7, the GSX-R1000 and the Panigale V2 as well as the ZX-10RR. That is not a compromise part — it reflects the fact that this generation of superbike fork has settled on the same 50 mm upper leg diameter, so one precisely machined clamp serves them all.

Fitment and Compatibility

The manufacturer lists this bar for:

  • Kawasaki ZX-10 RR — model years 2021 through 2026

For 2004-2020 machines the equivalent is SM50.

Road Approval

Bonamici publishes no ABE or type-approval for these bars. On a circuit that is irrelevant; on a registered machine in Germany, handlebars are a scrutinised item and worth clearing with an inspector first.
