DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Kawasaki Z1000 has long been one of the defining big naked bikes, and plenty of them are now second or third bikes used for daily riding. Accossato's AGPA109 front pad in the Sintered compound fits the Z1000 from 2010 to 2019, including the ABS model of 2015 to 2019. It is aimed at owners who commute on their Z1000 through the year, ride in the rain without hesitation and want the front brake to feel the same whatever the temperature.

Key Features

  • AGPA109 front pads for the Kawasaki Z1000, 2010 to 2019
  • Sintered compound, article AGPA109ST
  • Per Accossato, steady high grip from cold to hot
  • Good bite on wet roads
  • Keeps its character on a daily commute
  • Year-round pad, no seasonal swap
  • Plate also offered as EV1, EV2 and ZXC
  • No German approval documents; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato's description of this compound is a high grip level that does not fluctuate between cold and hot, plus reliable performance in the wet. For a naked bike ridden every day, including on rainy mornings, that consistency is exactly what gives the rider confidence. The company adds that its pads wear slowly, limit fade by staying cooler and stop firmly. The Sintered material sits on the AGPA109 plate.

A Big Naked as a Daily Rider

Many Z1000s have become the bike that is always ready: to work on Monday, to a friend's house on Wednesday, into the hills on Saturday. That means cold starts, wet roads and a bit of everything in between. A Sintered front pad is intended to offer the same lever response in each of those situations, without the rider having to adjust expectations.

An older bike deserves a look at the whole brake system when the pads are changed. Check the discs for wear, replace old fluid, and clean the calipers and pistons before pushing them back. Pump the lever afterwards until it is firm.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato catalogues AGPA109 for the front of the Z 1000 from 2010 to 2016 and the Z 1000 ABS from 2015 to 2019, shown in our garage as the Kawasaki Z1000. The rear pad is AGPP102, listed for 2003 to 2019, and Accossato also offers the DKS042 disc for this bike. The Z1000 has twin front discs, so both calipers need a box each.

Road Approval

No ABE or approval mark for AGPA109ST is on file with us, so the set is supplied for competition.
