DescriptionThe whole story▼
Nobody buys a Panigale V4 R for its rear brake, and on a fast lap the pedal barely moves. It still has work to do: holding the machine on a sloped paddock, easing it out of the pit lane at the speed limit, steadying a tight turn at the end of the day when the bike is being pushed back to the van. Fluid ages in that circuit exactly as it does in the front one, whether or not the pedal is used. Accossato's TS012 replaces the reservoir cap in anodised aluminium.
Key Features
- Rear brake fluid reservoir cap for the Ducati Panigale V4 R of 2019
- Fits in place of the cap on the standard rear reservoir
- Aluminium, CNC-machined, colour from anodising
- Seven colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver, gold
- Matches the FP004, FP007 and TS003 caps for this bike
- Accossato lists the same cap for many other machines
- No German ABE on record; a part for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Aluminium goes into the CNC machines and a finished TS012 comes out; anodising then provides blue, green, black, orange, red, silver or gold. Because the colour is anodised rather than applied on top, it stands up to the cleaning a rear-mounted part receives and does not lift at the rim. Accossato produces the cap for the rear reservoir Ducati fits to the machines in its list, so the rear brake of a Panigale V4 R is otherwise untouched by the change. Take the opportunity, while the original cap is off, to look at the diaphragm beneath it and to replace it if age or heat has got to it.
Still a Job in the Pit Lane
Treat the rear circuit as part of the machine rather than an afterthought, and the work is short. Stand the Panigale V4 R on both wheels so the reservoir lies level, and clean the area around it before a fastener is touched, since dirt sitting on top has a direct route inside once the cap is away. Protect anything painted nearby with a cloth and keep water within reach, because brake fluid leaves its mark on lacquer in moments. Check the level between the marks, look at the colour, and consult the owner's manual for when the fluid was last due to be changed. The fluid takes in moisture from the air over time, so a system that sees little use is not automatically a system in good order, and no cap changes that. Fit the TS012, tighten it with a light hand rather than a firm one, and press the pedal several times before the machine is loaded. On the way back to the van, the first gentle application tells you everything you need to know.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the TS012 for the rear reservoir of the Panigale V4 R in 2019, replacing the original cap on the standard reservoir. Should the rear master cylinder have been swapped for something else, the application list is the place to check before ordering. The same cap is catalogued at Inter-Pace for the Diavel 1260 S, the Hypermotard 939 and Benelli's TRK 502. For this bike Accossato completes the picture with the FP004 at the engine, the FP007 at the clutch and the TS003 at the front brake, all available in a common colour.
Road Approval
We hold no German ABE and no test mark for the TS012, and it is accordingly listed for racing and competition purposes.
