DescriptionThe whole story▼

Rain changes a motocross track faster than any bulldozer. A circuit that was dusty on Saturday can be a slick, rutted mess by Sunday morning, and the Husqvarna TC 250 that felt so light and eager the day before now has to be ridden with patience. Goggles fill with mud, boots get heavy and the ground offers little grip. In those conditions the feet have to stay on the pegs as much as possible. Accossato's enlarged Ergal footpegs for the TC 250 of 2017 to 2022 come in orange or black.

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato describes the FR798 as enlarged footpegs made of Ergal, a high-strength aluminium alloy, for motocross, enduro and off-road motorcycles. It gives no further technical detail, so we do not either. In the wet, the benefit of the enlarged size is easy to understand: a muddy sole has more peg to rest on. The set holds two pegs, left and right, and for this generation of the TC 250 you can choose orange or black.

A Track After Rain

On a wet track the rules change. Lines that were fast in the dry disappear under standing water, and the ruts that form in the turns quickly become the only way round. Riders who do well in the mud are usually those who stay smooth: gentle on the throttle, careful with the front brake and committed to the rut once they have chosen it. The snappy two-stroke power of the TC 250 needs a light hand, and a gear higher than usual often helps the rear tyre find grip.

The feet play a big part. In deep ruts the rider stays on the pegs as long as possible, because a foot put down in the mud can be dragged back and twisted. Standing on the straights lets the bike move and slide beneath the body. Boots caked in mud are heavy and slippery on any peg, so a broader surface gives them more to work with. Between races, scrape the mud off the boots and pegs, and after the meeting wash the pivots and grease them before the dirt sets.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the FR798 for the TC 250 of 2017 to 2022 and the FR795 for the earlier bikes of 2014 to 2016. Compare the photos and colours of both sets and check your TC 250's model year; if in doubt, send us the details and we will help. We also list the same FR798 for the GasGas MC 250, the GasGas EC 300 and the Husqvarna FC 450.

Road Approval

For the FR798 we have no ABE and no approval of any other kind, which is why it is sold for competition.

Scope of Delivery
