DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Panigale 1199 R was the version of the 1199 that Ducati prepared for racing homologation, and it still turns up on club grids and in amateur endurance races. In endurance racing, two or three riders share one bike, each with their own hands and their own braking style. Accossato's RA002 is a folding brake lever with a 90-degree remote adjuster for the 1199 R of 2013 to 2015. With it, each rider can reset the lever on the move, using the left hand.
Key Features
- Folding brake lever with 90-degree remote adjuster, Panigale 1199 R, 2013 to 2015
- Lever position changed from the left hand while riding
- Holder size 35 mm or 60 mm
- On the original brake master cylinder
- Anodised aluminium, black base, blade in seven colours
- RST lightening cut-out or plain blade
- Hinged blade that can fold in a fall
- No German ABE documented; for racing use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato builds the RA002 around a folding lever cut from aluminium: black anodised base at the pivot, coloured blade on a hinge. What distinguishes it is the remote adjuster, supplied with a holder in 35 mm or 60 mm. Blades come in seven colours and in two forms, RST with a lightening cut-out or solid NRST. Competition is familiar territory for the company, whose history includes an Enduro world title in 1985.
Two Riders, One Bike, One Setting Each
Rider changes in an endurance race happen in seconds. The incoming rider jumps off, the next one climbs on, and the bike is back on track before anyone has time to adjust a lever. Yet riders rarely agree on where the brake lever should sit. Hand size, glove thickness and personal habit all play a part, and a setting that suits one rider can feel awkward to the next.
With the RA002 on the Panigale 1199 R, the fresh rider can make that adjustment on the out lap, on the first straight, with the left hand, and settle into their own feel before the first push lap. A paint mark on the adjuster for each rider's preferred position makes it quicker still. And if a stint ends with a slide into the gravel, the hinged blade may fold rather than break, which can decide whether the 1199 R makes it back to the pits.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the RA002 for the Panigale 1199 R of 2013, 2014 and 2015, US versions included. It fits the original brake master cylinder. No other folding lever from Accossato is listed for the 1199 R, but the fixed EDF099 brake lever is, covering this Panigale from 2013 to 2017.
Road Approval
The RA002 is sold for racing and track use; no German ABE is documented.
