DescriptionThe whole story▼

Fluorescent yellow under a matt finish is genuinely uncommon, because most manufacturers use gloss to get the maximum brilliance out of the pigment. This is the version for a rider who wants the effect without the shine.

A carbon shell in six sizes

The 6K designation describes the tow — 6,000 filaments per bundle — which gives a visibly regular weave and a good stiffness-to-weight balance for a shell this size.

🔵 Inside it sits a multi-density EPS liner with ventilation channels ducted through the foam itself.

No rating of its own — and what does transfer from the composite

🔵 If independent test data is what decides your purchase, the answer is straightforward and cheaper: the composite FF811 Vector II holds 4 SHARP stars and Certimoov 3.5 of 5, weighs 100 g more, and costs about 100 € less.

🟢 It is the same helmet in a different shell material, with the same six-shell fit.

Airflow that reaches your head

🔵 Wind noise is also left unrated. No independent measurement exists for this model, and noise depends heavily on your screen and riding position in any case.

What can be said is that a compact shell presents less surface for turbulence to act on — but that is reasoning, not a measurement.

About the Grid matt hi-vis yellow graphic

The mechanism is worth understanding rather than taking on trust. Fluorescent pigment absorbs ultraviolet — invisible to you — and re-emits that energy at a visible wavelength, so the surface returns more visible light than falls on it. That is why it appears to glow in overcast, rain and dusk, when there is plenty of ultraviolet in the sky and almost no contrast on the road. A matt clear coat scatters some of what the pigment emits, so a flat fluorescent finish is marginally less brilliant than a gloss one — the trade is a helmet that reads as a designed object rather than as workwear, and one that hides handling marks. 🔵 Two costs: fluorescent pigment fades under sustained ultraviolet over years, so store it in a garage rather than a window; and matt is washed and never polished, since abrasive compound leaves a permanent shiny patch on a flat coat. If conspicuity is the deciding factor rather than a consideration, compare this directly against the Savage hi-vis at the same 339 €. That one carries fluorescent yellow across more of the shell and in gloss, which is measurably more effective at distance. This is the version for a rider who wants the benefit without the helmet announcing it.

Three visors, one helmet

An anti-fog insert works mechanically: it sits slightly proud of the visor with a sealed pocket of air between the two, holding the inner surface above dew point.

🔵 Sprays and coatings need reapplying and fail exactly when humidity is highest. The Pinlock 120 XLT is supplied here.

Holding on, and letting go

Multi-density EPS handles different impact energies: firmer where an impact must be slowed hard, softer where energy should be absorbed progressively, rather than one compromise density throughout.

🔵 It works once. After any real impact the helmet is finished, whatever the carbon looks like from outside.

The part you actually touch

🔵 Washing the lining is the most effective maintenance there is and the one most often skipped. Sweat degrades foam, and the foam is what holds the helmet in position on your head.

Cool water, a few times a season, dried away from direct heat.

Carbon or composite — which Vector II to buy

What this helmet is good at: fit, weight, equipment and material. What it is not: independently tested, or easy to pull on.

🔵 Both are stated in full elsewhere on this page rather than left to be discovered after the order.

Care and replacement parts

Helmets are consumables with a long life. LS2, like every manufacturer, advises replacement after roughly five years regardless of appearance — adhesives, foam and resin all change with time and ultraviolet.

🔵 Keep the purchase date somewhere you will find it.

In the box

  • LS2 FF811 Vector II Carbon helmet — Grid, Matt hi-vis yellow over carbon (6K carbon shell)
  • Clear hardcoated visor, fitted, with quick-change system
  • Pinlock® 120 XLT MaxVision™ anti-fog insert
  • A complete tinted visor — 🔵 daylight use only in most European jurisdictions
  • Integrated drop-down sun visor, fitted
  • Carrying backpack
  • Reflective stickers
  • 🔵 No intercom — the shell is prepared for LS2's Bluetooth unit, which is a separate purchase

Size guide

Buy tight. Every helmet loosens as the padding compresses, noticeably over the first hours and again across the first season, so the correct size at purchase feels slightly too snug.

🔵 Thicker cheek pads are available if it loosens further.

Specification

  • Model — LS2 FF811 Vector II Carbon
  • Part number — 168115354
  • Colour — Grid — Matt hi-vis yellow over carbon
  • Homologation — ECE 22.06
  • 🔴 Safety rating — none. SHARP's „LS2 Vector 2" 4 stars (02/2025) records composite fibre, 1.5 kg — the HPFC version, not this carbon at 1400 g. Not carried over
  • 🟢 What does transfer — Certimoov rated the FF811 platform 3.5/5 on a fibreglass Splitter. Compactness and field of vision transfer (shared geometry); impact scores do not. 🔵 criticised: getting the helmet on, and the sun visor mechanism
  • Shell — 6K woven carbon, structural — not a carbon-look wrap; six shell sizes (2XS–XS / S / M / L / XL / 2XL–3XL–4XL)
  • Impact liner — multi-density EPS with ventilation ducts moulded through the foam
  • Weight — approx. 1400 g (±50 g). 🔵 the composite Vector II is 1500 g — carbon saves 100 g for about 100 € more
  • Sizes — XXS to 4XL (nine sizes). Shell prepared for LS2's Bluetooth unit; no system supplied
  • Visor — wide, hardcoated, UV-protected, quick-change
  • Sun visor — integrated drop-down shield, stowing fully inside the shell. 🔵 Certimoov called the mechanism improvable
  • 🟢 Included — Pinlock® 120 XLT MaxVision™, a complete tinted visor, a carrying backpack and reflective stickers
  • 🔴 Tinted visor — daylight only — most European jurisdictions bar tinted visors at night
  • Ventilation — Dynamic Flow-Through — chin and forehead intakes, ducts in the EPS, rear exit. 🔵 left unrated: nothing measured on the carbon version
  • 🔴 Wind noise — left unrated — no independent measurement is published for this model
  • Retention — reinforced strap, micrometric metal fastener, emergency-release tabs for the cheek pads
  • Interior — breathable, hypoallergenic, X-Static® silver, laser-cut, removable. 🔵 the composite Vector II is not listed with X-Static
  • 🔴 FIM homologation — none — a road helmet, not eligible for FIM-sanctioned competition
  • Serviceability — both visors, sun visor, Pinlock insert, cheek pads (several thicknesses), lining and vent covers
  • Replacement guidance — after about five years, and immediately after any impact — carbon hides a crushed liner
