Shift is the second graphic family and B15 carries it in matt grey and red — the most conventional-looking version in the range, and the best of the graphics at surviving a wet week.

A chin guard that opens — and the P/J question

Practise the one-handed open before you need it. Finding the release in winter gloves for the first time at a toll booth is not ideal, and on a modular it is the control you use most.

About the Shift B15 graphic

Red against a mid grey ground is the pairing that survives dirt best among the brighter options here: insect strike and road film read as a haze on pale grounds and largely disappear on mid ones, so this version still looks presentable after a long trip. Red is also a high-saturation colour that holds up well against grey tarmac, which puts it among the more conspicuous choices without going fluorescent. 🔵 Red pigment fades faster than most under sustained ultraviolet, and matt clear coat is washed rather than polished.

HIRP, ECE 22.06 — and the weight MT does not publish

🔵 No independent safety rating exists for this helmet. SHARP has never listed the Genesis R SV, and modular helmets are rarely tested by the programme at all. There is no ADAC or Snell result either.

What it holds is ECE 22.06 — a pass mark rather than a comparative rating.

The integrated sun visor

The sun shield mechanism is the part of a helmet most likely to develop a rattle over years, and on a flip-up there is more of it to go wrong. On a new helmet it should deploy and retract cleanly without play.

The 935 visor and the Pinlock you buy separately

🔵 A note on tinted visors and the law. Fixed dark visors are not road-legal at night or in poor visibility in most European countries. On this helmet the question largely disappears — the integrated sun shield drops behind a clear visor and retracts instantly.

The main visor is the 935, supplied clear.

Interior, fit and intercom spaces

The parts that wear on any helmet are the ones you touch: the lining compresses, the cheek pads absorb sweat, and the chin-strap area frays. All of it comes out on this helmet, and all of it washes.

🔵 Replacement padding is also the right answer to a helmet that has loosened with use.

The micrometric closure

The closure fastens one-handed, which matters on a helmet worn for long days with frequent stops. It also releases one-handed, which is the part you appreciate at a fuel stop in the rain.

🔵 Ratchets drift with use — a strap that has loosened lets the helmet move, and that is worth a check every few months.

Where it sits in MT's range

Buying a Pure version rather than a graphic saves 13 € and changes nothing else — same HIRP shell, same 935 visor, same sun shield, same micrometric closure.

When something wears out

🔵 Replacement cheek pads are the most useful spare part on any helmet and the least often bought. They correct a fit that has loosened with wear and solve a hot spot that would otherwise mean a different helmet.
