DescriptionThe whole story▼
Lagoon is the two-colour line in the X.G30 range, and blue with copper is the more unusual of its pair. Copper against blue is a warm-cool contrast rather than a light-dark one, which reads as material rather than as decoration.
A Sixties silhouette on a 2026 shell
Nothing about this helmet's safety is nostalgic, whatever the styling suggests. Six-layer composite shell, three shell sizes, double-D retention, and full ECE 22-06 approval alongside DOT, CCC and NBR certifications.
🔵 The styling is a design choice. The structure underneath is current.
About the Lagoon Blue Copper finish
Copper is the colour that most obviously belongs to the era this helmet references — it is the tone of aged brass fittings, of old instrument bezels and of the trim on machines from before chrome took over. Setting it against a mid blue rather than a black keeps the whole thing from looking like a costume. On a shell with no vents or spoiler to break it up, the two-tone treatment is also the only styling available. 🔵 The copper elements are the parts that will show scuffing first, and a printed or applied finish cannot be touched in the way a solid colour can.
Six layers, three shells
The structure is a six-layer X-Matrix2 composite shell over a polystyrene impact liner. The shell spreads the load and resists penetration; the liner absorbs energy by permanently crushing.
🔵 A crushed liner does not recover. After a real impact the helmet is finished, whatever it looks like from outside.
What an open-face helmet does and does not do
🔵 Read the approval carefully. „ECE 22-06" on this helmet means it meets the current European standard for open-face helmets. It does not mean the helmet was tested for chin impact, because there is no chin bar to test.
Everything else the standard covers — shell, liner, retention, abrasion, strap rotation — it meets in full.
The dark sun visor — and the clear one that is not there
Two pieces of sun protection come with this helmet and they cover different angles: the peak handles light from above, the dark shield handles glare ahead.
🔵 Neither is a clear visor, and none is supplied. External visors are accessories, available clear, in 60 % and 80 % tints, in iridium red and green, and in yellow HD.
| External visor | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Clear | year-round use, night and rain — 🔴 not supplied with the helmet |
| 60 % tint | bright days without committing to full darkness |
| 80 % tint | strong summer sun — daylight only |
| Iridium red / green | mirrored, cuts glare — daylight only |
| Yellow HD | lifts contrast in flat, overcast and dusk light |
Interior, X-Mart Dry and the Ergo Padding System
Everything that touches skin comes out by hand: the crown pad, the cheek padding and the chin-strap covers. All of it is X-Mart Dry — sweat-wicking, anti-allergic and fast-drying.
🔵 Complete replacement linings in camel-black and black are available, which lets you change the trim colour as well as renew a worn interior.
The double-D ring
🔵 A practical note for daily use. If you find the double-D genuinely slow at every stop, that is a real objection rather than a failing on your part — and Nexx's Y.10 jet uses a micrometric quick-release instead.
The X.G30's closure is a double-D throughout the range, including the carbon version.
1320 grams, and the rest of the honest list
🔵 Buy this helmet for what it is rather than for what it looks like, because the two are easily confused on a retro design. It is a genuinely well-built urban and country-road jet with a current approval and a compact shell.
It is not a substitute for a full-face, it has no comms provision, and it does not come with a clear visor.
Where it sits in Nexx's range
🔵 Worth being honest about who this helmet is for. It suits classic and café-styled machines, town riding and unhurried country roads. It does not suit motorway distance, cold weather or anyone who relies on an intercom.
Nexx's Y.100R covers the first two of those in full-face form for around 215 €.
Accessories and spare parts
🔵 Replacement padding is the right answer to a helmet that has become loose. Rather than living with one that moves on your head, fit fresh pads or use the Ergo Padding System — both cost a fraction of a new helmet.
Complete linings in camel-black and black are available, as are all six external visor finishes.
