DescriptionThe whole story▼
Rear axle protectors on a Yamaha YZF-R6, built between 2017 and 2021, have to survive more than a crash to earn their keep, since the rear wheel comes out for a chain adjustment far more often than it ever hits the ground. Melotti Racing's Corsa-line PR.YA.315P was engineered around both jobs at once, giving the rear axle a one-piece Ergal slider on each side that is as happy coming off in the workshop as it is taking an impact on track.
Key Features
- Rear wheel axle sliders, Corsa line, for the Yamaha YZF-R6, 2017 to 2021
- Melotti part PR.YA.315P, available in black or natural
- Machined from Ergal for abrasion resistance
- One slider replaces the original axle nut entirely
- Rear nut features a self-locking system, a first among aftermarket aluminium axle nuts according to Melotti
- The other slider grips and turns the axle directly for a fast rear-wheel change
- Front sliders, the PR.YA.315A, available separately
Construction and Material Quality
Melotti machines the PR.YA.315P in Ergal, a material it uses across the Corsa range for its resistance to abrasion over plastics. The nut-protector slider takes the place of the YZF-R6's original rear axle nut outright, and Melotti built a self-locking feature into it specifically because the rear axle, more than the front, sees repeated vibration during ordinary use that can work a conventional nut loose over time. The matching slider on the opposite side uses an all-in-one clamping system so the axle can be turned directly rather than relying on a separate tool held against it.
Stock-Class Safety Without a Stock-Class Nut
A self-locking rear axle nut is a small detail that matters more under scrutineering than it might seem on the shelf, since a race organiser checking a YZF-R6's rear end wants to see fasteners that will not work loose over a long session, not just ones that look tidy. Melotti built that locking feature directly into the slider rather than relying on thread-lock or a separate washer, which keeps the whole assembly as simple to inspect as it is to remove for a routine chain job. It is a part that does the everyday work of a rear wheel change and the safety-critical work of staying tight, in the same single piece.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the YZF-R6, Melotti's own range for the PR.YA.315P spans 2017 to 2021, the window we list against. Front-axle protection is a different part number, the PR.YA.315A, sold on its own rather than bundled here. Because the rear axle dimensions match, the YZF-R1 of 2015 to 2021 uses this exact same rear slider. Available finished black or natural.
Road Approval
We hold no ABE for the PR.YA.315P. It is supplied for racetrack and closed-circuit use, and club race organisers set their own technical rules at a meeting.
