Cut for the Adventure Bar
The MT profile follows the Multistrada's wide handlebar and its considerable steering lock. On a bike whose bars genuinely reach the stops in a car park, cable routing is not academic.
Five Kilograms Out
Ducati renamed the 950 and lightened it, mostly through a new rear subframe and shock. It also lowered the seat, which mattered rather more to buyers than the weight did.
Ninety-Six Newton Metres
The 937 cc engine delivers its torque low enough that the V2 never feels like it needs revving. On a loaded touring bike that is worth considerably more than peak power.
Throttle Assembly Alone
The switch block stays where it is. This part covers the housing, which is what most owners actually want.
A Cut Bore
Machined rather than formed, so the tube stays concentric across years of touring mileage. Ride-by-wire means that consistency reaches the engine as well as the hand.
Black Anodising
Converted into the metal. On a motorcycle ridden through weather that keeps other bikes in a garage, an anodised surface is the only sensible finish.
Cut From Solid
Ergal 7075 at roughly double the yield strength of ordinary machined aluminium. It holds its clamping face on a bar that carries luggage-laden weight through every corner.
Seat Heights
Ducati offered the V2 in a lowered form with shorter suspension. It is the reason a good many riders who could not manage a Multistrada before now own one.
The Sensible One
The V2 does most of what the V4 does at a lower weight and a considerably lower price. Owners of both frequently conclude that the smaller one is the better motorcycle.
